Transfer thread

We've needed a manager who can operate at the top end of the PL for a few years. That will hopefully become our biggest differentiator this season.
It’s 100% this mate. No one will convince me we had a worse squad than Sunderland, Brentford, Fulham etc last season. They were just well coached and ergo, motivated, something we lacked until the last 6 weeks.

You know what he said previously he would be the perfect 3rd choice and one who IMO with a good coach would develop at pace
The fact we don’t have a first choice and how sold him is scary for me
The fact that people (not you) are validating it by the potential fee is madness
I suspect we sold him because we had an offer and were desperate for sales because no one, so far has brought a senior player who we would sell
That’s a reflection on the senior players for sale and the team selling them imo
I’ve watched him play live 3 times I think and on TV I think around 16/17 games
He literally has everything you would want from a striker imo other than pace. Pace didn’t hurt Kane and the stylistic similarities are there for me as is the career development trajectory and coaching
But what’s done is done
The worry is we still haven’t done the needed front end business but we have time
For what it’s worth I rate tel and think there is a striker there too…. But he will need time and patience
I actually like Richy and Solanke but their fitness issues are more than well known
I don’t think we need a world class striker, we need a side that attacks with purpose (Frank killed that) and with a plan. The chance creation increase alone will have a massive impact I think

I think thats a great summary

3RD choice behind Richarlison & Solanke is very different to 3rd choice if we signed a genuine top level #9.

Is it
I mean 3rd choice is still 3rd choice
We have taken a gamble that he won’t be great
And not actually addressed the issue of the starters
And there really aren’t many top level 9s out there

Assuming it's the club and not the player that's pushed the move.

Player may not have wanted to hang around and be 3rd choice.

He's 21, he wants to play every week I imagine.
Well at the end of the season he said he wants to play for Spurs. I doubt he would be so presumptuous that he would automatically be spearheading our attack. More likely he would want to be a rotational player he would play in cups and off the bench. With the injury record of Richalison and Solanke I bet there would be ample opportunity for minutes.

Romero plus Spence plus Solomon in exchange for Savinho does seem a bit mad. I get that it’s a bit more complicated financially than just headline transfer fees, but even so.

Lankshear's instinct for goal is so rare. I could see him pushing Kane for his England shirt come Euro 2028

No idea
The club would need to create it
They turned down interest in Lankshear
Then sold him when ( my guess) they realised they were struggling to offload players

I personally don’t think was the case with Lankshear. Or Spence for that matter. I think the club would have been happy to keep both, with Lankshear going on loan.

Given that we have now made a fortune on outgoings and the books are looking fairly balanced, I would expect things to been happening on the incoming fairly quickly now.

I think its as clear as day that we are managing the cash flow here now and the outs happening before the ins was in part precaution

I think the sale of Spence will enable the purchase of a forward. I think we'll need the sale of Romero to capture a second forward though as there is still a big mismatch between sales and purchases in financial terms.

Who do we reckon will be next through the door? I'd love it to be Marmoush.
