Its his disgusting politics that is the problem, not his footballing ability. Look at the replies to the club's birthday message to him to see the strength of feeling there is about him. He's absolutely toxic (and brought it all on himself)
 
I watched the match, and he tried really hard and ran around alot so he got a run on the ball alot. He was playing in an attack full of kids, so he should look better than them, and also the opposition weren't very good to put it kindly.

But you could see that he's bang average in the way he contols and moves with the ball. I think he is probably a very high level championship wide player at best, or a very low level premier League player.

When Tel came on for last 30 minutes you could see the difference very clearly. I would have made Tel Motm in Auckland just for that cameo performance.

If Solomon is in the squad for the new season he'll be taking a place away from a youngster or a new purchase....we definitely need to sell him this summer or release him.

One of those who will excel in the Championship, but for a club with designs on silverware, not in a million years

Neither Leeds nor Fiorentina took their reasonably cheap (£8m) options on him, which is also quite telling

I'm wondering whether RDZ might use Solomon for depth until the January window. I haven't seen the 2 pre-season games but have noted that he's been trusted by his manager.

It's one of those situations when you're missing a couple of 1st teamers where you have the choice of putting Bergval or Gallagher out in the wide area or playing a full-back further forward. Would you do that if you had a natural player for that position on the bench?

I guess we don't really know until we see the transfer window play out. RDZ also spoke about Kudus joining up with the squad as they return back to the UK.
 
Manager's say things all the time. I really hope this is true with RDZ.

I've lost count of the times we have appeared to favour the older player in the 20 man squad and we see the younger guy omitted altogether. We've seen lopsided squads where we've often picked the available senior players even though the 20 man squad isn't balanced at all. We've even seen 3 keepers.

I think it's more just a realistic take that the majority of managers would have here - if you're good enough then you will play, but the reality is our young players just aren't at that level and most never will be.

But the names being thrown about like Donley, Moore etc they are nowhere near the required level and there probably isn't any that are good enough yet. LWB is the one with that bit of real stardust but probably a season or two too soon?

Moore is 18, got a huge ceiling, and already made 12 EPL appearances. Solomon is 27, is technically quite limited, and only made 5 appearances. If we need a fill-in for 6 months to cover Odobert's injury, its a very easy call to make

Thankfully RDZ hasn't made any definitive assessment on individuals and just made a generic statement on how he sees things. Ultimately the same has to be the standard for players coming into the club too, time will tell on that

At 18 I suspect Moore is going on a loan again.

Moore is likely going on loan again, if he is starting week in, week out, would benefit him and us more in the long term, he has also not looked particularly comfortable playing on the right. I think it would be more a choice between Solomon and Yang for the next six months before reassessing the situation based on Deki and Odobert’s fitness in January.

I think your argument is really fair as long as the guys in the 20 man squad perform to a level. Let's address the elephant in the room here. Since 2019, Spurs have been mostly bang average and we've had loads of players that have been part of that mediocrity. Within that, we've had perhaps 2 decent seasons. Even with Poch, a player like KWP deserved to be in the squad. Trips and Aurier were performing terribly but if they were fit then they were selected. KWP even came in got 3 or 4 assists in a game and still got dropped.

I think KWP is a great example as he fits your criteria of "nowhere near the required level". I think we all felt he wasn't going to be that top 4 left back we required after watching the club struggle to replace Walker. That doesn't mean Tripper shouldn't have been told to sit games out as he struggled with all those abductor issues. He was terrible at times, and arguably Aurier was worse. Were they the required level? Not for me.

This stuff is really subtle. I couldn't be happier to see Japhet wearing the armband for Sheff Utd and becoming the outstanding centre half in the Championship. We gave him 27 appearances in a 5 year period. Yes, he had injury issues but he was never treated fairly. There was no level playing field with guys like him and Davies. There was just bias to the older player.

This is why RDZ will need to be held to account, like all managers, on statements he makes. I'm hoping the biggest thing we're learning with RDZ is how he judges players. He was talking this weekend about players wanting to play for him and basically leaving the club if they don't want to. The first thing he needs is their total buy in and trust. Then he can pick through the ability and suitability part for his system. So if LWB or Moore want it bad enough, he could absolutely be the right guy for their careers.

Tell me, do you see him as a wide forward on the left or more of a number 10? I haven't even watched him since Spurs under Ange. I bet he is a different player now.

I watched a handful of Rangers games on Sky last season and the player for me I can see similarities with is actually Deki, this may contradict myself to a certain extent but I see him as a better wide forward cutting in from the left, but his lack of pace is the big if.

Exactly, thats where I think most people are. If you are going to sell talent like Vusko and Bergvall for example then you have to deliver on the path you choose working.

For all the youth that havent been deemed good enough I can name as many expensive mistakes we bought who are the same.

Its clearly a balance
