Sadly, due to polarisation and fear, middle ground discussion and exchanges are off the menu for now on all sides of anything, as an opinion expressed becomes a definitive judgment on said-person!

I think Djed could sadlty become an example of what we need to do now in terms of making big decisions on players we like given the need to reduce the squad and balance the books.
I cannot see him wanting to stay and be part of a 'rotation' given the lack of games, and I do think we'll get 40 or so for him because of his England involvements, so he might well be someone we cash in on and I am at peace with that.

Oh absolutely!
I agree and strive daily to try and move beyond that myself. It was about 5 years ago that I suddenly realised I would die knowing less than I ever thought it was possible to not know because I'd spent the first 54 years of my life thinking I knew more about everything than I ever did!!!!!!

He’s impressive. But needs to take the next step in the final third. He panics a bit in attack. But he’s got the pace and skill to be a menace in attack. To take that next step he needs consistent games somewhere. So likewise I’d love him to stay, but if he goes and allows us to spend 100m on a forward/s so be it.

I don't think him going allows us to spend on anyone, because we'll need to replace him. And I can't imagine a replacement costing significantly less than the 40 we'd get selling him.

He's 25. That's about the age, maybe a year older, than Danny Rose was when he became the player that we all remember. I think we'd be mad to get rid of him.

We have Udogie, Robertson, Davies, Souza, and Poro. Theres also VDV who’s played LB.

If 45m extra allowed us to sign a next-level striker so be it. There’s also Spence to think of. He needs to start games to develop.

26 in a month. Rose-tinted spectacles. Loved him but not sure Rose would get in the side now. Such is the development of the PL. I prefer Spence to Rose.

Question is: how do you see Spence breaking out into a top player? He needs to add assists and goals. And he’s not cracked it in the final third yet. Moreover how will he start games with Udogie, Robertson, and Poro all potentially ahead of him?

You're completely right that we have a lot of LBs.

What we won't have if we sell Djed, is a right-back to rotate with Porro. And buying one will cost about as much as selling him will make - at least in this market.

Gray will be a perma RB. JPVH can also play there.
