It still bothers me that even if he was given permission to go ( which should never have been given ) he decided the timing was right and went anyway.
Let's face it. He came back because of the backlash only.
That's not the kind of leader I want as my teams captain.
good as he is, i don't think romero should contiinue with us.
he's obviously been marked by the epl refs, and isn't disciplined enough to channel all his energies into good footballing technique.
we need stability and assurance going forward to scale the table into top 6 in the next few years, it is not the right time for a player of his temperament
I think it is a massive shame that we would have to move a player on because of PGMOL. I would rather our club act on those reasons and hit Howard Webb's team with everything we've got. That should start today with a public statement of discontent on our official website today and a request for a meeting and strategic review of PGMOL.
It’s not because of the PGMOL. Romero is a reckless and dirty player. Not saying we shouldn’t play the game and pressure the PGMOL like other clubs do but let’s not act like they’re out to get him, he brings most of it on himself.
I think it’s time he moved on. I’m glad he saw sense and came back for the game, although it did feel a bit like the damage was already done. I’d prefer we sign someone more committed to the club. At the very least, he shouldn’t be captain next season if he’s still here.
To an extent he brings it on himself. But he's also reffed differently - other players make the exact same fouls he's been sent off for and aren't even given a second look by VAR.
PGMOL have it in their heads that Romero is a dirty player, and also that Spurs are a soft touch - they won't get criticized for sending a Spurs man off or being harsh on us in general. Which is why we haven't had a penalty in a year and have the fewest penalties per touch in the box over the past three years.
Way to change that is to terrify the refs - scream bloody murder whenever they give calls against us, so they become scared to do so. It's how the other top teams do it. You need to treat refs like dirt to keep them in line. Treating them gently just makes them think you're a soft touch so they can do whatever they want when reffing you.
I'd say nothing to PGMOL, I'd be much more subtle.
Next press conference have two pictures behind rdz, one of yesterday's tackle on vdv and one of Romeros tackle.
Have video running of all the penalty decisions we didn't get, of the three pushes in the box for goals that went against us.
When journalists ask, and they will, just say, it's our history, a history I'm here to change, if you want answers on the individual incidents ask PGMOL, it's their decisions.
PGMOL will ignore us or come up with twisted logic to justify themselves.
Only media pressure will change this.
1) Romero had the reputation of being a dirty player because of the things he has done, that reputation didn't come out of nowhereTo an extent he brings it on himself. But he's also reffed differently - other players make the exact same fouls he's been sent off for and aren't even given a second look by VAR.

Or maybe he was just visiting Argentina and always planned to be back in time for today. Either way it doesn’t matter
