The we are staying up thread

When you think about it, it's incredible to think that 80 minutes into the Wolves game, we looked as good as done and now we're one point away from safety. Let's not count our chickens but if we do survive, I really hope it will be a wake-up call and people within the club will use that horrible experience to make sure it doesn't happen again anytime soon.

We need to get the squad and improve the starting quality of the first 11 significantly. 2 years at the bottom should be enough to let us know that what we have isn't up to spec.

For me more important than that is getting to the bottom of our injuries - we could sign the best of the best it wouldn't matter the way we have been going. As bad as the league position has been past two years, no manager has had the opportunity to field anywhere near the first XI on a consistent basis. Any team bar perhaps Emirates Marketing Project would massively struggle with having to play almost every game with as much as if not more of the squad players than first team.

Until that is sorted, we are going nowhere....

Sack the entire 'less risk adverse' medical team that Munn and Ange brought in from Brighton 2.5 years ago. Get Geoff Scott back and let him bring whoever he wants in to work with him

Tbf this is the “we are staying up” thread, a place for positive posts. If you go to the “we are going down” thread you’d see even worse predictions!
Hang on, you mean there are 2 threads? I thought it was the same one that changed its name every few minutes.

Amen to that. 👍

I do wonder if there is something to the idea that there is something wrong with the pitch/training ground or have we just bought softer players more susceptible to injuries? When you think across 4 managers we've consistently had significant injury problems it suggests the problem is deep rooted.

However I still think we need to improve on the 11, even if everyone was fit we'd still have the crap choice of Richy or Solanke, no LWF and no passer from deep. I'm not going to let the injury situation gaslight me into forgetting the core problems this 11 has.

Twice as many injuries as the next worst team says there is at minimum a significant investigation that needs to be done

Supposedly Munn did do an investigation and some recommendations were made but we as a club didn't follow through with them. I can only hope given this 3rd season of the walking wounded we will revisit that investigation and give the results the respect they likely deserve.

Agreed, we need some quality additions to the starting eleven. A CF, left wing, CM who is a passer and a GK would be the main areas for me....

RW is desperate, RKM will go back and who knows re Kudos
CF is desperate, fair to say at this point neither Richi or Solanke is the answer to be our #1 (one could be backup)
CM as eventual Maddison replacement and cover for Xavi for next season needed
GK as Vic is probably gone and as much as Kinsky has been ok, don't see him as the answer
LB as Davies is out and Udogie hasn't shown he can stay fit for a season
CB, depending on ins/outs (assuming we move on Dragusin, perhaps one of Cuti/VDV will push for move)

A lot of work to do this summer, and at least 3 of those need to be upgrades to current squad.

to be fair you were sulking about us enjoying a season without VAR etc and looking forward the championship etc … will that medical team drop down a division pal?

Munn brought in his own medical team. They are the ones that are currently failing.

We had the 6th best injury record in the league in the 5 years up to that point. Munn hired the team who had the 20th best record. We then dropped to 20th.
