Re: Gomes & Cudicini to Championship on Loan

I can't believe either would agree to go on loan to the championship. Cudicini has become the first professional bench goalkeeper, with his switch from Chelsea's bench to ours, and wouldn't fancy a Championship bench. Gomes would have to accept the ultimate humiliation. Its also unlikely that a Championship club would pay their wages so we don't gain anything.

I'd be surprised if we couldnt find a team somewhere who would pay part of their wages at least. Getting someone to pay £20k of htem per week would save us £1m per year

Re: Gomes & Cudicini to Championship on Loan

I'm sure both could find spots in the Championship, and Carlo might even go. But I can't see Gomes leaving for a loan spell in a lower league.

Re: Gomes & Cudicini to Championship on Loan

I think there's no point loaning Cudicini. He's in the last year of his contract, can't be on big wages as it was a post-bike accident contract, and seems happy to warm the bench. He's a decent #3.

I'd like to think Gomes can still be sold abroad, to a country with a later deadline day.

Champions loans for Jenas and Bentley (and Obika and Falque who are also now overage so require squad places) would be ideal.

Fenerbahce have announced they're in talks to sign Raul Meireles, with Turkish transfer window open until Wednesday.

Portuguese press said we never even made an offer for Moutinho, it was just all "fluffy" talks rather than concrete bids just to appease AVB. Not sure if that was mentioned in here or not.

Re: Gomes & Cudicini to Championship on Loan

I'd be suprised if Cudicini is not just released from his contract, what's the point of loaning him?

Gomes may want to get a loan abroad before all transfer windows close however being injured is not helping him.

When are loan deals allowed to be agreed across Europe?

The only info I could find was on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transfer_window which says that Football League clubs can agree loan deals from 8th September till 25th November.

And this http://www.epfl-europeanleagues.com/leagues_transfer_window.htm which states that only the French, Russian and Finnish transfer windows remain open.

We still can't sign out of contract players till January.

We can sign players that were out of contract when the transfer window closed,
what we aren't allowed is to sign players that are released or has their contract expire after the window closed - those have to wait untill january

Hulk is going to Zenit for a reported 50m euro. The russian window is still opened. Can't see Porto wanting to sell Moutinho after getting that sort of money for a player.

Second tiers across Europe (e.g. the Championship) have a loan window for an extra month after deadline day.

Countries outside of Europe e.g. Brazil, don't have transfer windows at all - it's an EU requirement which FIFA applied to the rest of its members.

But unless Owen or Heskey turn up before tomorrow, they won't make our final 25 man squad, so won't be able to play, even if we sign them.

Free agents that are signed outside of the transfer window can be added to the 25 man squad at any time.
As long as they were out of contract before the window closed, and as long as the club has only 24 or less men registered already.
Another rule though is that you aren't allowed to register less than 25 players if you have other senior players eligible to be on the list

....

Cheers for the info. Perhaps Gomes will return to Brazil if he doesn't fancy playing in the Championship then.

Anyone know which players are without a contract, not because I want us to bring in someone. Just a little curious.
