The "If we go down" thread

Bizarrely, I think most of our players will be in demand - they are all good players; they are just a mess together.

Vic - back to Italy
Porro - Plenty of suitors
Danso - probably back to Germany
Romero - will be the first to demand to leave
VdV - will be so close behind Romero you won't see his shadow
Spence - a Villa Saudi Sportswashing Machine type
Bergvall - big rep
Udogie - back to Italy
Xavi & Tel - still have good reputations, sure someone in Germany or France will be stupid enough.
Vuscovic - I think he'll go in the summer no matter what.
Kulu - loads of suitors

Madders - will want to leave. Might have some lower PL suitors. Might not.

Sarr - might stay. Will have options. But I suspect he'd stay.
Solanke - I think he'd stay one year.
Richi - same as Solanke.
Gray - will have lots of options. I think he'd stay and focus on being a regular and developing. He seems to have his head screwed on.

So:
Kinsky
New RB
Dorrington Phillips Takai
Davies might get a new deal?
Souza

Gray
Sarr
Gallagher?

Moore
Yang
Donley (edit - apparently Oxford have an option to make permanent)
Williams Barnett

Gallagher - unknown.

Solanke
Richi?
Lankshear
Melia?

Just typing that - I want half of that top lot gone and the bottom lot given the space to step up; a few of them will.

I could see Maddison staying actually - might get lucky and feel he owes us.

He’s reportedly on £150k pw with 2 years left on his deal. You get him to agree to a paycut and the rest is a bonus should we get promoted and he plays half the games. If we get promoted he goes back to his full wage and gets an extension. If we don’t he leave on a free. Think you can do a similar deal with others like Spence, Kulusevski and Solanke.

I think player power is too strong for that.
And you don't exactly look at our squad and think "strong characters"

I think that can apply to Ven de Ven, Bergvall, Vuskovic and maybe Udogie will have an option that’s better than Spurs. But I think we could sell the later three on the idea of staying around knowing they will be playing games and be back in the Prem next season. You could agree to a buy out clause if we don’t get promotion as we would need to sell at that point anyway.

Spence, Danso & Tel would be going to mid table or below teams in the Prem who are not going to pay them more than we do.

We
I think we'd be fine financially, for the first year at least, Levy has only been gone a few months, they've not had the time to undo his prudence and he'll have had some kind of protection against such circumstances.

I am wary of the loan ‘covenants’ and hope they’re a red herring. I don’t think they are.

I think Vdv and Romero would be the first 2 sold. Vicario back to Italy and Bergvall probably gone. Simmons if anyone will buy him for what we paid, and Kudus will have suitors.
I cant see other PL clubs wanting many of the rest . Of course the loan players Paulinha and Muani will go back.
Bring back Moore, Vuscovic and Takei and we should be competetive in the Championship.

There will be suitors for most of our best players, second best players and our most highly rated younger players.

Even outside the best you mentioned, would players like Solanke, Udogie, Danso, Porro, Spence, Gallagher, Sarr, Gray, Vuskovic etc be up for a year in the Championship? Would they prefer that over an interested club in the PL or on the continent? I'm sure there would be clubs interested in them (and others). Maybe not the elite teams, but there will be a massive pressure from the media, agents and the players themselves. And other clubs will be salivating at the chance of a good deal for clearly good players.

Just to add to that...

Tudor would obviously be gone. Would we stick with Vinai or Lange? I'm guessing that's not that likely. Who would we get to take over? Who that's actually good at these things would want the job of probably selling a significant amount of our best players and rebuilding in the Championship? Manager we can probably get quite easily, shopping in a lower tier. But we'd still be as desperate (if not more) for a real strategy, plan, way to operate that has to be anchored with the CEO, board and probably a director of football type.

Who could we get in that would make a convincing case even to someone like Danso that staying here in the Championship and rebuild is the right career move? Never mind our actual first choice players?

Any player on a long contract, there is the option to send them out on loan for a year, and hope we bounce back.
Currently there are championship teams that could beat us… that’s how dire it is.

Hopefully Tudor can get a tune out of this team against Fulham and it may give me some hope.

Hate this thread as well, delete please 🙏
Hard enough with the media pile in, other fans having a go. Need more positive threads, we know the situation we're in.
We need to somehow grind out 3 wins minimum which I think we will.
Either that or draw all 11 remaining fixtures...which we won't.

I disagree. The complacency got us into this situation. We need to wake up, stare it fully in the face and deal with it. Every match now needs to be a cup final, until we get those 13 more points.

And I would want our mentality in the Championship either - it's the hardest league in the world.
We'll need add three or four experienced pros.

When you say 'we' who do you mean? The fans/club or this forum?
I mean we're well aware of the situation on this forum which is why I don't think it needs a thread.
Those in the real world, the fans and especially the players, they do indeed need to wake up and deal with it if course.
Banging on about it on here isn't going to change anything come match day.

I think that’s over stated now tbh. The experienced pros part. Championship in terms of ability and technical quality is probably the 6th best league in the world and generally the teams that win are playing good football with young players.

The club/players. But I actually think the fans making a noise about it could make it usefully more urgent.

We know the owners are now checked out and distant, and Vinai and Lange are just passive yes men, so you've got to hope there's someone around someone who notices and cares
