Thomas Frank - Head Coach

The debate has mostly been around whether these players are capable of playing more progressive football than what Frank is trying to show.

That would be the typical Spurs fans question based on my lifetime. The right question should be whether we can play more progressive football without losing this current defensive record. The even better question would be how do we find the progressive football whilst improving our defensive record. Then we start talking in a fan language of a winning football club.

Is it that people cannot accept that Frank wants us to be a counter-attacking side full-stop, and are genuinely of the belief that once he gets Deki and Solanke back that he will suddenly unfurl a new style of play? I don’t know anymore, only that it’s getting as tedious as last season!!!
no i think spurs fans want exciting football with risk taking up front. the only reason richy is not getting lots of jeering is because he still puts in worldies from time to time. for a long time we always had that special player - son, kane, bale, dele, erikson, modric, berbatov, sheringham etc . to provide special moments. feels like we are back to the meh years pre-redknapp where we were a retirement home for PL players and sheringham as captain. i don't know if TF understands the long history here, because if he does, he would build the team around kudus - our most exciting attacking player right now, and think of something else when the injured stars are back
Firstly, a top 5 team wouldn't target players to keep them a top 5 team. They look for better to go on to win the title.

Udogie
Romero
VDV
Porro
Spence
Kulu
Bergvall
Bentancur
Johnson (snapped up for £35m by a team ahead of us, 3pts off top 5, and that finished of us last season)
Simons

You might say no, but now look at arsenal and think back to when they weren't at arsenal.... The following players were not top 5 players until they took a punt on them -Arteta made them work:
Rice
Eze
Gyokeres
Odegaard - do you think real Madrid would have sold this version of odegaard?
Madueke
Trossard
Nordgaard
White
Kepa
Raya (people questioned why they signed him when they had Ramsdale)

How you might say Poch had players to win the league.... Then why did only Kane and Walker end up at a truly top team? The answer is simple, we had good players in a position when good players in those positions were readily available.
but the potential for these players were there from the price and wages that arsenal had to shell out

Indeed we have been so successful over the past 40 years, winning the massive trophy haul of two league cups and a UEFA cup (in other words 7.5% of a cup per season!!) that Frank stands out for being a complete loser. Does he not understand that for these 40 years we have been beating "Wolves, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth, West Ham etc home and away" year in year out!! Now he comes along, gives us the best away record this season, keeps us on track for a CL playoff place as a minimum, only has us 4 points off a CL place and - above all - doesn't beat all of "Wolves, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth, West Ham"! And not home and away to boot!!!

How's that working for you? you still think 12th is on track for a CL place?

I take it you did realise - with your obsession to blame Frank for everything - that we are still 4 points off a CL place

And his set piece coach replacement (with no managerial experience) having lost their two best players is managing to win a game by 4 goals, is in 7th (actually in contention for a CL place)

but hey, I'm sure you will tell me none of our players can get into their team and if we just had a 35 year old Jordan Henderson, Kelleher in goal and squad with Nelson, Pinnock, Collins, Schade, Janelt we would be better than them?

The guy is the next Potter/Nuno, and we can continue to have this conversation until the point between now and the end of the season where he will be fired.

4 points off something at this stage of the season is being in contention

Come on .. copium mate, here is why it isn't

- United, Chelsea, Saudi Sportswashing Machine, Brighton are also between us and that spot
- We can't win against teams like Brentford (consistently), Wolves, Sunderland, Fulham but we are going to make up points?
- His previous team minus their two best players with a coach who has never coached at this level is in 7th (actually in contention)
- Every piece of real data (xG, chances created, shots, touches in opposition box, possession) actually says we should be lower in table not higher.

Is it mathematically possible? sure, but any reasonable view would say season is already dead ..

Getting the remaining 15 points we need to get over the 42 barrier, much earlier than last season, is the first priority

No it isn’t. We can’t prioritise, and should not prioritise, something that happens en route to a destination. Do you celebrate to yourself every time you close the front door when you go out? That’s the significance that 42 points ought to have to us. It should just be a milestone that occurs without any thought be given to it.

As I said you are so clearly obsessed with Frank, and have nailed your flag so firmly to that mast, that whatever I say will not make a difference...

But then I shouldn't be surprised, should I...

Managers have a useful time or do you wish we kept Nuno?

Poch burnt out, Ange got found out, Nuno like Frank was just the wrong guy to start

Or you think we should have kept all?

You do realise that post referred to Poch - not Nuno - and it was in the first three months of his tenure?

Just shows form, my friend....

The season is in no way already dead - that's a terrible take

So many layers still need to be improved. Passing. Concentration. Decision making, Intensity and then consistency
once they all improve.....it will be better!
