New takeover rumours

I am lost for words here. Staveley has (reportedly) been forced into a corner to release a statement informing the World she has no intention of making or at least leading a bid for Spurs, even though every man and his dog knows she wants to.

Left with the impression there is new owners pulling strings or the Lewis family really are here to stay. Either way, she doesn't need to make such a statement in my view.
It seems that THFC Ltd is subject to the Takeover Code regulations due to its previous status as a listed company. Therefore if there are strong rumours of a takeover the potential bidder can be required by the Takeover Panel to make an official statement of intent (or otherwise).
(Caveat that I’ve just spent a bit of time googling all of this so might not have it 100% correct but that is what I can glean).

Doesn't she have to? Club has a % of publicly traded shares

End of the day she is a grifter, a chancer.

It's the stock market I'd imagine right? They don't want to shock the marker with rumours and then see a decline if it dies down. Maybe a buyer isn't imminent and that process has just started?
I imagine it's this, also she doesn't have any money, she is a cap in hand merchant. So any deal will be made as a consortium or if she can broker for someone rich enough in the Middle East, but many won't touch her now

2 interested parties.
But we're not for sale.

The Board of Tottenham Hotspur Limited (“Tottenham Hotspur”, the “Club” or the “Company”) is aware of recent media speculation and confirms that its majority shareholder, ENIC Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd (“ENIC”), has received, and unequivocally rejected, separate preliminary expressions of interest in relation to proposals to acquire the entire issued, and to be issued, share capital of ENIC from (i) PCP International Finance Limited (“PCP”); and (ii) a consortium of investors led by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited (the “Consortium”). As a consequence of ENIC’s majority ownership interest in Tottenham Hotspur, were any offer made to acquire ENIC and complete, a mandatory offer would be required under Rule 9 of the Code to acquire the shares of Tottenham Hotspur not already held by ENIC.

The Board of the Club and ENIC confirm that Tottenham Hotspur is not for sale and ENIC has no intention to accept any such offer to acquire its interest in the Club.

could ENIC be for sale?

Levy has always said that the club has had various offers before when he was chairman but we have never had a full statment like this from the club, the no sale position looks pretty clear but things can always change.

It seems very odd that they can request someone to publicly declare their investment plans, which I suppose would then tie their hands in the matter, just on the basis of rumours.

Then again, I know absolutely nothing about how these things work.

I wonder if that was a problem. Levys ethics?. And they were born out of either being a fan and/or just a strong belief in operating fairly?

I suppose it is because Enic are an investment company first and foremost. I am sure if the deal was right the deal would happen, I still think it will and everything will be sold as a package (shirt, stadium, club) which leads me to think it will be someone from the Middle East.

That's why I'm suggesting Levy was a barrier as he had the added layer of it had to be the right type of investor/takeover.

I'm thinking since the changes at companies house, it's gone from a very straightforward Joe Lewis - Levy communication line, with J.Lewis mainly hands off and trusting DLs ideas/judgement/approach (why wouldn't you...it's brought you £££).....to his kids now being in the conversation and perhaps not having that history or loyalty to DL...plus they might just have different ideas, and simply not care about the things that DL does (or did).

It's definitely hard to gauge if they want to give this a go or they want to exit with a sale? A coin flip at the moment imo

I think the changes have been made from a business perspective rather than an on field perspective. I think fans who think we are all of a sudden going to spend big bucks are going to be very disappointed. I don’t think we will operate any differently.

I really hope not that would be the straw that broke the camels back & the end for me watching Tottenham & football. The people wanting trophies might get what they want but at what cost
