Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

Liverpool were a bigger club than us from well before Levy taking over. Both benefitted massively from being at or close enough to the top at the time of huge money disparity entering football consistently. The "top 4" as CL money became huge.

It's been very difficult for any club to get to a consistent CL participation level without already being one of those clubs without "cheating"/massive financial injections. That task looks about as difficult as any task in football. To me Levy has done really well at that. Particularly remembering that compared to Germany and Spain for example there are more big clubs in the PL to compete with imo.

Dortmund and Athletico Madrid can have a good, not great season and finish in CL places. Good, not great in the PL typically means you're immediately out of that.

No other club in the PL has come closer to that over the last 25 years than us. We were even there for a while. And it now looks at least realistic that we can again. In no small part thanks to Levy.

That’s fine and I’ve acknowledged many times that Levy did a lot of great things for the club but the poster said “he couldn’t think of a club who has been more successful without cheating”. He didn’t caveat it by singling out clubs who were already bigger than us. Liverpool actually went through a malaise in the 90s and 2010s by their standards. You can say Levy has done a very good job, that he was one of the best chairman in the league, but hyperbolic statements like no one has done better without cheating is just silly.

Liverpool have been the biggest cheats of all, the dodgy inflated transfers like coutinho, part of a wider FFP fraud racket, and actual doping of players.

Interesting to see where major overspend got clubs and also again shows the wider picture of the benefits of running a commercial enterprise

In terms of why Levy was put in place as chairman, the graphic shows he excelled at his job. ENIC as a company has one aim - make shareholders profit.

I would argue this isn’t the correct metric to measure success as, but I’m not a shareholder. I want success in trophy terms. My investment in Spurs is emotional, not financial. That has been Levy and ENICs shortcoming in my opinion. But as I’ve said above, that’s not why he had the job

But if everyone had done it the right way too we would have won more, that table shows just how much cheating has gone on.

It’s others using cheat codes that have hurt us, not our leadership.

Nothing showing on Companies House yet about a change of details for the club, just wonder if Levy is stepping down from all the companies under the TH Limited banner , DMC although she resigned from the main companies of TH is still a director of TH Foundation so hasn't completely left the club.

What a great business football is. Losses galore. I can see why it gravitates towards the dingdong swingers, sport washers and money launderers....as not a bean to be made :)

Can't wait till we get Qatari or Saudi ownership and the flagshaggers have to square the circle of which Muslims they like (its a joke before people get knickers in a bunch)

I think its showcases where others have massively failed in spending HUGE money and as much as people like to say "what about Arsenal and Liverpool" we can also look at the whole picture and say we have done better than all but three of those spending huge money with one of them being United and the others being financially doped to the gills

Yeah this is definitely going to upset the dressing room. You could tell Levy had a real rapport and natural chemistry with the players from that all or nothing documentary, he was the football version of Robin Williams, making people smile and feel at ease simply with his presence, he had the gift of the gab like no other. If you lose someone with that level of charisma working in the upper echelons of the club, how could you be expected to step over the line to play 90 minutes of top level football? Abandon ship!!! PANIC!!!!!!!

Thanks for allowing me to indulge in some hysteria, it's quite fun. As controversial as it is, I don't have a strong feeling on this one. On paper no doubt we're in a good position, you can judge what a player does on the pitch as it's in plain view and pretending we know anything about the going ons at board level seems a bit off. The stadium is great, what would have happened if we had stayed at the lane when it was a fortress under Poch and focused on the football pitch not the NFL nor the go karts - Obviously we'll never know.

I'm sure Levy did his best to hit the targets that were set for him, and it's not easy being the person who takes all the flak. Abuse or worship of him seems a bit odd to me but there you go. It's nice of the club to give us something to chat about during the international break, PR masterclass.

I think if we had stayed we would be experiencing severe boning by PSR in the way that Aston Villa are.

At least it seems that our financial constraints are club/ownership directives (possibly with rules from some banks linked to the borrowing) rather than from the governing organisations of the game

Just for clarity here, in what ways do you mean when you say "we have done better" than Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd?
