That could work, but you need to make sure the side is balanced aswell. Remy is not winger.

I get that but you have to remember we have the most energetic rb in the league playing for us. He'd easily be able to give us that wide option should we need it. Also we'd have 2 runners from midfield playing in Sigurddson and Dembele who have the legs needed to cover that side.

that's pretty much how it would look during a game (not how we start of course but how it would look as the game goes on). Ade dropping right, Remy picking up Ade's central position, Walker bombing forward providing width, Dembele providing cover for that side should Walker not be able to at times.

I feel the same way but Dembele has great technical ability and I really think he'd be utilised as the ball playing mid with a licence to roam in a middle 3 of

Well.. in a way its 4 attacking players at home and 3 away from home so i dont know what you are on about.

Need a stronger midfield away from home and in big games, otherwise we`re too open.

A couple of bits ive picked up on, 1) Porto need to make one big sale per summer to balance the books. It was expected to be Hulk to Zenit, but thats broken down, so they need to make a big sale.
2) IF Levy is in south of france, is it possible Porto could be around for the CL draw also? Is it possible we could speak to Marseille, Lyon and Porto in one hit?

Would be delighted with signing Remy - we've needed someone who can play both flanks for a while now (not Bale :lol as we were stuck with the likes of Kranjcar filling in on the right and pulling out some turgid performances.

I haven't really see Willian play much tbh, and his price tag seems very hefty

Interesting debate between Arc and Nayim.

I personally think he will not be used in the Modric role but in a more forward postion. Half way if you like between a traditional CM and AM. He could find a lot of space in this position and be very effective. I think if he is paired with either Sandro or Parker as the holding CM, he could be brilliant for us in this central position.

I think we are talking essentially the same thing and just using different terms.

Im seeing AVBs midfield as

.........DM........CM
...............AM

And thinking

DM - Sandro, sitting, shielding, getting in between the CBs when we attack
AM - VDV/Sigurdsson - ahead of the midfield base, behind the striker, almost pure attacking role. Looking to get goals and provide assists.
CM - Dembele, working a defensive shift when necessary and advancing the ball and play when we turn defense into attack. He would be retaining possession, carrying it up and instigating attacking moves. I would expect him to get up and attack as well as defend.

I agree, the £70k limit that people still think we live by was from the best part of a decade ago. We will have had to move with the times a bit in order to get the players we have. I would think £80k is the top earners, with potentially one or two (Bale?) over that - or at least on that with a heavily insentivised package to allow them to bump up to £100k.

Charlie man read what i'm saying.

That's how the formation will look during the game (much like AVB's Porto formation). Of course it would probably start off with the bog standard 4-3-3 but once the game gets going it will look something like that.

Guys, I suspect this thread will be very busy over the next two days.

It's hard enough to trawl through as it is, but can we please try and keep it to pure transfer info/speculation/news and avoid the tactics and formation posts that seem to be dominating at the moment?

I know some of it is relevant, but please think of those not so frequent posters who pop in and out to try and pick up some info quickly, and don't want to wade through 10 pages of 4-4-2/4-3-3/ or whatever.

I'm surprised Levy is flying out privately - surely he could save a few bob by getting the ferry from Dover and driving to Marseille himself?
