I guess when fans say Frank's Brentford football isn't "good" they mean it isn't lots of pretty triangles and jinking runs and craziness, it is a more pragmatic system of "if you are in a position to cross it into the forwards, do so, rather than fannying around and bottling it and coming back to the centre back to go all the way around the back to the other side, to then bottle the chance to cross it in and go all the way back around, to then try some stupid scheme which fails.

Certain people (scaramanga) will hate crosses, but if we have Solanke/Richie attacking them, it can work. Ditto if we put balls in for the far post run of Son/Johnson to sprint onto.

But perhaps there will be less creative off the cuff stuff??

Don't get me wrong we were brick last season but I'd like to be able to dream. Hopefully we appoint a manager who facilitates that.

That, my friend...'dreaming', audere est facere, is not part of the modern world. Daring to do? Not so much, and when it is done, when it succeeds and the tantalizing whiff of possibility is on a new horizon, well, best play it safe...

There’ll be another meltdown if we don’t get him.

There'll always be a meltdown. We have a very large fanbase. You can't please everyone.
Also social media is rife with bots and people whose purpose is to wind up people in comments sections in order to make money. Same as the media.
This country is a mess because of it. Especially london.
When i was travelling last year i so didn't want to come back. Unfortunately i had to.

This site says Frank used 4231 last season 23 times.
But as we all know, it isn't so much the 'starting positions on paper' that matter, it is what you do during the match.

I'd say Ange would start kinda 433 but more 4123 i.e. only one midfielder sitting... and then he would push his full backs way up the pitch so it becomes 2143 i.e. 2 centre backs, then Bentancur, then Udogie Maddison Bergvall Porro in the 4, then the front 3.
And then push the full backs further forward into a 2125.
And then allow Bentancur to push up into a 2035 formation
And then go all out 2008 formation!!!

https://www.footballcritic.com/brentford-fc/formations/500 says a recent formation used by Frank was this 4231
............................Wissa
Schade ......Damsgaard..... Mbeumo
.............Yarmoliuk Norgaard
LewisPotter VdBerg Collins Kayode

But looking at their squad they also have fairly well known players like Henry Janelt Jensen Carvalho so... who knows

If we appoint Frank I'm going on strike from games. Plays brick football and never accomplished anything.

For context I was pretty pro Poch before he signed because his teams played great football and did very well.

Frank is just another Nuno imo and reeks of mediocre and safe decision making.

Glasner I have similar doubts about but he has achieved far more in far shorter a timespan. He surely won't come to us though.
We need to find a serial winner. All the best coaches have won, wherever they have been, at whatever level. We need to take a chance on someone and see if they can step up. Someone like Frank, who is regarded on here as a 'safe pair of hands', will never be anything but. I loved Poch, but let's be honest, his career has hit similar (almost there) heights wherever he's been.
