The Goon Thread

A lot of my childhood mates are arseanal fanatics, I love sticking it to them as they do me. Makes friendships stronger! I do worry that this scum side are building a mentality of finding a way to win, but then, so are we... it'll be a great game, I can imagine lotsa needle between players. The atmos will be piping hot! Wish I could be at the effeminates for this one

We probably all know fans of other teams and they are just reasonable people like some of us and we can have a bit of banter with them without rancour, the internet allows the village idiots to spout their ravings and portray other clubs fans as deranged and delusional.
Oh so i’m a village idiot now. Nice one.

Our fans called them lucky for winning in extra time, forgetting the wins against leicester etc...

It's what fans do. Moan about their rivals.
Also, i’m pretty sure we done that Leicester come back in the allotted stoppage time. I was referring to their fans complaining about our late victory and ignoring the fact they won MULTIPLE games last season and also in the charity shield this season outside of the allotted injury time.

They have 5 games in 14 days finishing with Emirates Marketing Project before the next International Break. Hopefully their thin squad takes a bit of a hit during this period and City start getting some players back

Gary Neville giving it that Rice is a big game player that turns up like Roy Keane post game yesterday. I mean, I confess not to have seen every single Rice game, but is he that player? Easy to say after one example but to compare or consider better than a man who basically pulled teams up by the straps regular...I found that OTT

No one mainstream media member, these days, sucks off Arsenal like Gary Neville. Oh sure, we've got Arsenal Agony Aunt, Amy Lawrence, spreading wide for her boys on the pages of The Athletic. But she's had form in that department for ages elsewhere. And there's ex-Arsenal pundits like horse-kicked Martin Keown and Awan Smiff who can't hold themselves back professionally.

But without an Arsenal pedigree, Neville sucks hardest. They're clearly his second favourite club after MancU and the only one that he can seemingly accept defeat to for MancU. And, of course, like any approval-desperate media monkey, he's patently pandering to the huge support Arsenal enjoy on social media and elsewhere in order to float his own boat a little higher.

Had a pain in my hole listening to the media spunking over Jesus this time last year. “Arsenal have finally found a proper number 9.”

Now Sky and BBC have seen him for what he is. A decent player but nowhere near a Haaland, Salah, Son etc.

Can't believe they spent £65m on Havertz and ignored their biggest issue, up front.

Because Arteta doesn't want a number 9. Don't know how people/media don't see it.

Arteta is trying to recreate Pep's false 9 team from 5 or 6 years ago with lesser players (and Pep's moved on from that)

What they are is a well drilled pressing teams that dives and fannies a lot (similar to Pep's as well)

He's also a brick judge of players, Havertz, Jorginho, Jesus, Nketiah, Zinchecko, for the cost and wages, there are/were better options out there

False 9, centre forward, poacher…whatever you want to call it, none of Jesus, Nketiah or Havertz are good enough for a team wanting to win the league and I can’t believe they didn’t improve there.

Doesn't matter what system you play, you need people who can score if you plan to win.

Saka's about as good as they've got in that regard and his only shot on target was a penalty.

Havertz looks a total waste of coin, Rice as solid as he is looks massively over priced although that said the drop off to Jorginho was massive, not sure if thats a reflection of Rice or Jorg. Zinchenko looks abit of a weak link on the left to me, but limited viewing.

How quickly they brick on their players is spectacular

Saw another live reaction and the first words were "told you we should have sold him over summer"

Unfortunately there are fans at all clubs like that, including us. You get to think did these idiots ever play the game, no one wants to make mistakes and most feel terrible when it happens. The rewards for players are obscene but so is the abuse.
