I don't wanna be overly down constantly on the older managers but alot of it does come down to what the players are asked to do. I think most players are probably alot better with the ball than maybe we give credit for, but in tactical set ups that require more defensive discipline and chances created being a premium then mistakes were magnified.

If you are creating 3/4 chances a game then players mistakes in attack, especially if you don't score will seem worse than if you create 10/15 and score from a couple of them, people would probably not even remember those mistakes in the second instance
