Sign him up.

Mate he was insane at the European qualification game I went to when in Scotland. Was probably his first competative game incharge he was going balls deep in the players for not playing quick or his style. The fans were perplexed and loads gave him grief for it, had a turbulent start because they struggled to adapt but he got his way it seems

I hope he along with others turn us down .... forcing levy to accept defeat and step down. We are a shambles.

Interesting…. Do you work for a sports agency?
Nope
A global corporate real estate company
With ties to a number of huge banks (11 of the worlds top 20) and also big investment companies
It was before I joined. The meeting was in London. By facilitating i men’s we run the building, not set up the meeting or attended.
One of the guys who was there was the owners son who is now CEO, the old CEO (Indian chap) and a football guy (I don’t know who)
As I say, we facilitated the meeting that’s all but one of our account directors is a big arsenal fan and a good guy. He told me about a month after I joined.

We were looking at the likes of Kompany, Alonso, RDZ, Slot etc and they have all said no or were not gettable. Now its onto Ange, who it is hoped is of similar ilk.

YEs, and this is our problem with our hire & fire policy with managers. It means that managers who are in a good position at their clubs are unlikely to quit to join us unless its a massively upwards step. Why quit a decent role to move to somewhere which changes manager every 12-18 months?

So we now cant get the managers we want, so need to take more of a gamble, which increases the chances they fail...so we'll fire another manager

We need to break that cycle, ideally by some decent signings to make it easier for a manager to succeed and make the role more attractive

According to my Celtic mate, it took a few games for the players to get his system, but when it clicked, it's been awesome, according to him. He's gutted to lose him, if we get him.

I had a read through some Celtic forums and picked up a similar vibe. They all seemed to accept that he'll be off if we come calling too

Problem is that Celtic are still likely to win games while gettting used to a system. That isn’t the case with us and we’ve seen what our chairman does to managers when they lose a few games and have us outside the top 6.

Good post from a Celtic fan (no it’s not me):

You're under the mistaken illusion that we are different from any other club when it comes to firing managers. The average length that a manager lasts at a club in the PL is a little over a year.

Thank you for telling me what I think.

I'm not under that illusion - if you were to run that analysis for teams in different parts of the PL, I think you'd find the data was different.

The longevity of managers in the top 6 would be significantly higher with only Chelsea being around our average tenure. The teams further down would have shorter average stints

Managers that are successful last longer, top teams sack them as well if they aren't.

Might be the only way Levy has a rethink of his position or his method of operating - I've seen a lot of talk that managers are now considering our club a graveyard for their profession (admittedly, it's all unsubstantiated).

However, managers couldn't do their job without an ego and thick skin so I'm sure someone with a reputation will take it on.

Link doesn't work for me but I did see this one earlier on the hellhole that is SC... Interesting post though

Hello Spurs fans
I’m a Celtic fan and I’ve read this thread, mainly to see if any of you were ITK about Ange but a few comments need to be addressed.

A lot of you seem to be referencing Gerrard as a measure of success in Scotland. Gerrard won a single title and no cups in three seasons. It was 1 trophy out of 9 he competed for. He wasn’t a success, he was hyped up by his friends in the media because he’s Steven Gerrard. Ange won more than him in ten months. He’s currently on 4 trophies out of 5 with a cup final this weekend to make it 5 out of 6.

“Rangers have a bloke in charge that must have won a competition or something” is another comment that has stood out. After Gerrard left, Rangers appointed GVB who had won the league at Feyenoord… Isn’t that the same pedigree as the guy Slot you all wanted last week? He then took Rangers to a Europa league final 11 months ago.
This season we’ve won the league against a Rangers team that had over 90 points. A total that would have won the title 9 times out of 10. We did it by scoring a record number of goals. We beat them in a semi final and a cup final. As I said, they were in a Europa final… not a bad team you know, beating Dortmund, RB etc.

Rodger’s was a good manager who was up against incredibly poor competition. A Rangers side that had just returned to the league and had people like Mark Warburton I charge and Scottish players with no pedigree. His trebles do not compare to the one Ange is on the verge of winning and frankly his football was extremely boring for the most part and he had the personality and charisma of a dish cloth.

When Ange joined us we were also underwhelmed, our forums had splits down the middle too and we started the season really poorly going out of the CL to some Danish team and losing quite a few of our opening games but when it clicked, it clicked and I’ve watched some of the most exciting, dynamic and expansive football I’ve ever seen us play. The guy has a good ethos on how the game should be played which is quick, front foot, attacking football. It’s all about winning and winning playing the football he likes. He has no time for defensive, turgid approaches to games. We went into a game against Real Madrid with one pivot in the 6, two 8s, two wingers and inverted full backs. He has no fear and we love that. We play single pivot against everyone and we press really high up the pitch, 100 miles from the off with a lot of great rotations on each wing. We take quick free kicks, corners and throw ins. You can find a lot good examples of that play from these games:

I can understand your reservations although some of it does come across as slightly entitled but you’re a club that seems a bit lost, there’s no connection between fans, manager and players. You’ve had a lot of big time hires that haven’t worked out. This guy is probably exactly what you should be looking for. He really unites the team and the fans together, he’s a passionate guy with incredible presence. Our players will run through walls for him but they are also brick scared of him. He has no time for egomaniacs or primadonnas. He’ll weed them out fast.
Lastly, this man is a mentality monster. You are criticising his lack of pedigree. Wake up, do you know how difficult it is for a guy who’s managing in Australia to get noticed? There’s a bias towards managers from Europe or in Europe. The Morocco manager referenced it during the World Cup.
Ange has had no help, no leg up ala Gerrard, Lampard etc. He started off with Australia U17s and now he could become the first Australian to manage in the EPL. He rocked up at Celtic with not one member of staff. He backs himself like you wouldn’t believe and people follow this guy, he gets everyone on board. As for Levy, Ange is in charge of everything at Celtic. He does all the signings, he rejigged all the youth set up so now they all play the same tactics as the first team. He oversees the full project. We don’t have a DOF.

Absolutely desperate for him to stay at Celtic but I know the nature of the beast. We worship him like a GHod. I’ve never known a manager to be so in sync with the fans. We know Ange though and he’ll be very keen on being the first Aussie to manage in the EPL given everything he’s had to overcome to get here.

Levy has shown time and again that he doesn't have that patience. If we start the season poorly then the manager will be jettisoned. Additionally in the SPL, Celtic can still win games while getting used to a system due to being so much better than 80% of the opposition. We won't have that same luxury at Spurs unfortunately.

As part of the realisation that I believe Levy has had will be imo giving the new guy time.

The only issue I foresee is if we start disastrously while adapting to the new system, shipping goals for fun and being in the relegation zone.

However I don’t think it would get that bad during the bedding in process.

That's exactly why a manager with a reputation will not come to spurs currently I think ... they know what's coming ... not operating well, the board not to blame ... only the manager ...

The next man coming in will be gullible in thinking he can
a) succeed,
b) bend levy
C) not be entirely responsible

I see another couple of issues in there. The guy is obviously a big personality:

"He does all the signings, he rejigged all the youth set up so now they all play the same tactics as the first team. He oversees the full project. We don’t have a DOF."

Will be be able to do that here? We all know the answer.

"He has no time for defensive, turgid approaches to games. We went into a game against Real Madrid with one pivot in the 6, two 8s, two wingers and inverted full backs. He has no fear and we love that."

We all want better football than what's been served up over the last 4 years. But does this fella border on naive? Playing attacking football in the SPL with Celtic is one thing, trying to go toe to toe with Emirates Marketing Project or an in form Liverpool could be suicidal.

I've liked listening to Ange and love his attitude but I'm not convinced.
