What merit? He's almost 60 and in all that time he's managed to climb all the way up to the Scottish league on the managerial ladder. That says a lot to me. I'd be truly disappointed if he's appointed. Surely there are better and more progressive alternatives out there.

Do you understand how difficult it is for an Australian to become a manager in Europe? Can you name all the others who’ve done it?

I truly hope you’re disappointed.

It’s what I’ve been asking
I’m sure he is a good coach but no one can tell me what he has achieved that is relevant and relatable

I’ve posted a lot of info on why his achievements are relevant. His personality, managerial style, I’ve posted a load of videos and included media articles from Australia and blogs from Japan talking about how much of an impact he’s had. The trophies are there for all to see.

If that’s not enough, go and do some research. Or just join the rest of the forum in saying “well I don’t know who he is so the people in charge must be clueless.”

Edit: here are some of my posts on him:

First mentioned him (and referenced the Celtic meltdown, very similar to what's happening now) on June 23, 2021. A post you liked, funnily enough:

To which you said:

But he okays attacking football
That would make a big difference to Nuno

That will happen for some I’m sure
Buy in reality his CV is no worse than pochs was before he joined us. He won over fans quickly by playing football his way and engaging with the fans to bridge that gap

So I don't know what changed with you between then and now.

Sticking with the manager show have done great things at clubs around the bottom. Is it possible big clubs miss out on hidden gems because they won’t gamble on those guys
I don’t mean the allardyces of course but I know I’m Italy there are a couple of manager who have been keeping some weak sides up historically and never been given big jobs. Sure that would be the case in many countries
With football being a sport where money and resources matters more anyone who excels with mediocrity can only be good… maybe more so with us
Sticking and backing the manager you mean. Conte was never backed properly. The players he bought he didn't play, those he didn't play weren't sold. Arteta was nearly sacked you say, maybe, but he had the players he wanted on the pitch.

Ditto african, asian and north american coaches. And we wouldn't just appoint a guy from say the indonesian league who'd gone on to do well at Partick Thistle, would we?

Probably just as 'difficult' as for an American. *cough*jessymarch*cough* If you're very good at something, it will be noticed, no matter where you're from.

Another classic case of “this will end up the same because they have one similarity.” That being that they’re both foreign. Otherwise, it’s completely irrelevant.

Never said they're the same. Simply compared the difficulty of becoming manager in Europe.
Now you can have a think about what made these two make it. Is it because they are incredible managers, or might it be other things? Being well/outspoken characters?

On another note, why are you so insanely aggressive towards and kind of questions being asked about Ange? Are you related?

Because I would never be so arrogant as to completely dismiss someone I didn't know about. Gallardo? Know nothing about him, but if he's given the job I'll be happy.

Nothing has changed
Except were worse
So the next guy has to be 100%
I’m not anti ange
But I think now there are better candidates that are gettable
Nagelsmann
Potter
That two that’s have a better CV and would be better for what we need, based on what they have done
That’s not say Ange couldn’t do great things, but he could also be Christian Gross

Conte was backed
Conte chose not use players
That’s on him
To have so many new signings not get a reasonable percentage of game time is on him

Fair enough, no problem with that sort of argument. The only thing I’d counter with is: the CV of the last 3 managers (yes including Nuno) was pretty good. Surely we’ve learnt it means nothing? What is important is the fit. And, in my opinion, Ange is a great fit (as was Slot)

I have a sneaky feeling Levy has his sight set on Nagelsmann and we'll end up with a short term solution until he agrees to join in mid-October.

Why? genuine question. You think the gardening leave thing is an issue? I don't think Levy would be crazy enough to leave Mason in or even worse bring in another interim coach.
