Priority positions this window

Top priority is a goalkeeper. Having Lloris is going to impact an already nervous defence. A top quality goalkeeper that can take the pressure off the defence will help.
A CDM that will properly protect the defence. CBs need upgrading on but if midfielders are constantly allowed to run into our box unmarked by our CDM then it doesn't matter who we get as a CB they are still going to have major probs.
PEH is a big culprit in this regard.

We have higher priorities for Jan IMO. Our lack of pace and creativity is stark. We're so easy to defend against. RWB and a creative player are desperately needed

Those two additions would help us keep the ball too, which in turn means our defence is under less pressure given the opposition have less possession

There have been multiple with and without Kulusevski stats over the last months. The sample size will forever be small, but the difference in results is massive and imo matched (to some extent at least) by performances and what goes on tactically in games.

I guess that's where we see things differently.

For me it's also what's realistic. A top quality goalkeeper. A CDM that's better than PEH and Bissouma. These are big, difficult signings to make. Kulusevski cover should/could be doable.

We haven't had probs scoring or keeping possesion (~60% possession in last two games but still conceded two goals in each), it's defending were our issues are and that needs to be addressed first. 10 games in a row we've conceded first and in the last 6 games we've conceded at least two. Sorting that out is the top priority by a long way.

Kulu is without doubt a huge loss, but the performances have been just as bad when he's been playing and include some lucky wins.

We’re not conceding goals under pressure
We’re conceding them because of individuals making basic errors when not under pressure

There may have been some lucky wins/draws in there, but going by my impression performances have definitely been better with him from the start.

Wins against Southampton, Wolves, Forest, Leicester, Leeds. Better xG in all of those games. Doesn't mean we weren't lucky, but it's some sign of playing at least somewhat better than in our worse games?

Draws against Chelsea, West Ham and Brentford. All away games BTW. All worse xG than our opponents, but not by much other than the Brentford game.

Did we really have a lower xg vs Brentford and West Ham. We were the dominant side in both games giving away very cheap goals

I disagree Sess is "useless" but we have Udogie to come in at the end of the season.

I'm not quite sure Udogie will be the answer to our prayers - he seems to have tailed off since his early season form (at least in terms of goals & assists) so hopefully Perisic is up to another season

I slyly think a creatively minded players in the LWF role might also be of benefit. As it stands we really only have Kulu and Kane and Kane's creativity is usually over distance. His forte is not playing near balls in tight spaces around the box. We have Son for the left and when he's in form great, he's a deadly finisher and force of nature but even in that kind of form I would never really label him as a creative player. Lots are asking for a backup to Kulu but that player might not play often, so maybe a Kulu comparable on the left and who can possibly play through the middle as well might be useful. Richie is a handful but he's Son esque. It also gives options, both sides could have creative players or a mix and match. [emoji848]

Generally agree. Was thinking earlier about our dearth of creative players is accentuated with Son's lack of form

We also in effect only have 4 attacking players for 3 positions given Moura is always injured (and either past it or never had it) plus Gil still looks light-weight. And with Son's lack of form, its another non-player

We really need two more additions in attacking areas so that we're up to 6 for 3 spots, but at least one more for now would be a GHod-send!

Those 2 would have to be Kulu & Kane cover

Richarlison covers Kane. For the first time in many many years, CF isn't a position we need to stregnthen

We do need at least 1 more wide forward though. At the moment, we really only have Son and Kulu

Where do we think Conte would mainly use Malinovski, if he signs? Wide forward back-up? Or as an AM in a 3-5-2 if Kulu went off? Cover for Bentancur?

He'd be more use than Moura or Gil...just not the clearest fit with the system
