** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Forest **

Given the choice, great offensively + poor defensively >>>> vice versa
I'd prefer good in both areas. Weak in one area and strong in another have their problems whichever way the balance is in WBs.

Phew. We got away with that, and there is much to fix going forward.

  • Footballing intelligence/anticipation - something has to change in how often we fail to see where the second ball drops when we contest it, to the point where cobbled together sides like Forest on their 20th signing of the season can anticipate better and press better.
  • Richy starts from here on in. Sonny can ride the bench for a while, he's had 4 games to pick up form and looked rusty in all of them, albeit marginally better today. Richy came on and had an impact in 5m flat.
  • Romero being back will do wonders for our ability to hold the ball a little bit better at the back - Davo and Emerson on the right are just not ever going to be good players on the ball, although Davinson did well today, in all honesty.
  • Start. Quicker. Still don't know why we start like drunken corpses shambling around.
In the end, got away with it, all's well that ends well - but we *have* to be better, especially given Spam up next.

Much better second half compared to first half

Still think there is significant room for improvement:

- Kane and Son haven't been great so far this season
- Lack of attacking threat from RWB
- our signings haven't played much

Lots of reason to be optimistic. A creative signing, whether creative CM or creative attacker, would be very welcome before the window closes though!

"We got away with that"

Really? I dont think they had a clear cut chance did they?

when we don’t have the ball he’s a defender, and the useless clams up top keep giving them the ball back

he’s made several key defensive contributions that may otherwise have ended up in goals
We need more offensively though.
Some of his passing and ball retention at the end there was painful to watch.
We need better and I like the guy , he gives everything and has a good attitude but clearly not a wing back.
He's ok to come on if we are hanging on but not a starter for me.
Just imagine how good the already very impressive Kulusevski would be if he had someone that could link up with him better.

look at our xG, we don't need better, we need to keep clean sheets, that's the game, statistically a PL clean sheet is worth two goals

we are in a really good place, we just need Kane and Son to be at least average, so far they have been poor

Agree with most of that, except for the fact they didnt do much to threaten Hugo. A good number of forward thrusts but practically nothing in the way of an end product. They'll definetly be in a relegation fight this year so it was important to pick up the 3 points away. Surely Conte has to drop Son for Rich now. He absolutely shouldve done it for this game.

They had more than a few - I can count thrice they had free headers/shots in the box that dribbled *just wide of the post with Lloris rooted to his line watching helplessly.

More clinical teams will punish us for giving those up, like Chelsea almost did.

It's another one of those games that are tough to watch in the moment but balance on It's a deserved result

I think what we do now as opposed to Borinho is earn the right to play but are more solid and then more a threat second half. Long gone are the Burnley and Brighton's of 1 shot all game whilst pretending we are a counter attack team. We respect the game and get better as the games progress

Chelsea weren’t clinical
Chelsea were woeful in front of goal
Chelsea, like wolves and like Forrest started without a striker and packed the midfield. You sacrifice one area for another and there can be consequences
