then you're backing me up surely as my argument in the first place was that we have people that shoot from distance, I was only mentioning that Bale missed.

I will put a smiley face also as I dont want you to feel left out.

I must of mis-read you then, I thought you were pretty much saying our long shots last year were brick

I hope the fans dont scream shoot every time he gets the ball anywhere outside the box. And then groan and get on his back when a few go miles wide.

Brendan Rodgers: "I believed playing football would be most important to him (Sigurdsson) but obviously it was important financially. #Blast

Don't be a tool, Brendan. It's his career, why would he join a worse team, for less money, just to play for you? It's not like he's going to be riding our bench, I can see him fitting in and playing tonnes of games.

Sour grapes.

Brendan Rodgers: "I believed playing football would be most important to him (Sigurdsson) but obviously it was important financially."

Don't know where that's from. This next one is definitely real, but not connected to the first one:

"But the reality is there are very few players who can come and make a difference to Liverpool."

Rodgers, you utter prat.

3rd or 4th choice brick manager at a brick club.

It's amazing how he just failed to understand basic economics. Spurs coming in increased the demand for Gylfi, and as such his price was to rise.

What on earth did Rodgers think was gonna happen?

'Brendan, I really liked playing under you last season, and Liverpool is a good club, but Spurs have just come in. They've offered me 50k a week and a long term contract. They were in the top 4 last year and have some good players, I have to consider it.'

'I will give you 20k a week'

'Tha...wait, what? Maybe I haven't made myself clear. I'm being offered a chance to play for a squad that has some world class players, for a club that has massive plans for the future, and they seem to value me as a key part of their plans considering what they are offering. Are you not even going to attempt to come close to it?'

'You were on 20k at Swansea, you can be on 20k here. I'm not paying you any more.'

'K. Nice knowing you Brendan.'

Brendan finally gives himself away. Used to think he was a smart dude unlike KD. How does he think anyone would accept 20K a week when he's got players like Carroll and that winger with zero assists and goals combined on much much more? "utter prat" is accurate.

Im more disappointed that he is making these comments at all, rather than the stupidity of them.

Liverpool is a great club with huge world wide appeal - but they are teetering over the edge of "fallen giant" right now and arent in a position to pull in top players at will (as they once were, and often beat us to a signature)

The last few seasons they have really struggled to perform, and yet have still spent greatly on players and wages.

To go to Sigurdsson, as your top target, and offer £20k a week is frankly an insult. Im not saying he should have been on £100k but thats a real low ball offer.

To lose out on him and then start making comments like that? Classless.

I expect nothing less from Liverpool, I did expect a lot more from Rodgers

Is it KKD with a Rogers mask on ? Must be something in the brick scouse air or they just become tossers when they pull a red shirt on !

Be it stubbornness, naivety or arrogance on Rodgers' part not to increase the offer for Gylfi, he doesn't come out of this looking too good.

If he can't understand why a player would choose, say, £40K per week over £25K per week, then he simply has no understanding of modern footballers.

This wasn't a choice between Liverpool and the likes of Swansea or Reading. This was a choice between Liverpool and Spurs. And great as Liverpool's history is, Spurs are no small fry either and have outperformed Liverpool for the past three years.

his comments on Gylfi in full.....

..........................

One player who will not be making his way to Anfield is midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, who featured for Rodgers at Swansea during the second half of last season and completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.

"Gylfi did fantastic for me at Swansea last season," said the boss. "He wasn't playing at Hoffenheim, I brought him to Swansea and he did very well for me there, scored seven goals in 19 games and was very, very good.

"He and I both sat and spoke and believed that playing football was going to be the most important aspect for him. But obviously it was important financially so we agreed a deal for him to go to Swansea and that was wrapped up.

"I then became the Liverpool manager, and that then wasn't something that was going to happen at Swansea. So he then had a choice of where he wanted to go. I knew what the market was and I wasn't prepared to pay anything over what I had known was agreed before.

"Liverpool would have provided Gylfi with a wonderful opportunity to perform with a manager that he knows and at a club which is a real footballing institution.

"But he's decided to go to Tottenham, for whatever reason. I wish him the best, he's a good kid and there's no ill feeling. We've got other targets and we'll move on."

All Managers chat brick in public. It's just that we only tend to notice it when it has impact on the club we support. Basically move along and nothing to see here.
