Luka Modric is ready to confirm he wants to quit Tottenham.

Croatia midfielder Modric's representatives are hoping for a meeting with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy next week, at which they will make the player's wishes clear.

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are all keen on Modric, and managerless Spurs face a second successive summer of battling to keep him.

Levy held firm last summer, even after Modric admitted publicly that he wanted to go to Chelsea and Spurs are bracing themselves for another saga as the 26-year-old and his representatives prepare to raise the stakes.

Tottenham also face a battle to keep winger Gareth Bale - especially as there could be a dressing room backlash if Andre Villas-Boas is named as manager.

Players are understood to be wary of the prospect of Villas-Boas succeeding Harry Redknapp, because the Portuguese struggled at Chelsea last season before being axed after just nine months.

I reckon (know) there will be some other players (other than strikers) announced first but due to the fact that this is a public forum and i hate watching the Dail Fail regurgitate the ITK i will just sit back and watch for a while!!

And I know 100% who our new manager is for definite, but can't say here of course, as I dont want the Evening Herald or Tiddlington Echo reprinting my itk again....

But you do understand that when he's announced, I therefore knew all along...
 
He's hardly played on a regular basis at Madrid due to injuries. Last season (second half) was given a solid run of games and looked very good. I kept an eye on him specifically

Class player who still has loads to offer, imv - could either play as an out wide attacker, ACM or CM - versatile and could cover number of positions

Spurs 'eye Cedric Carrasso transfer to fill goalkeeping spot'

France international Cedric Carrasso has emerged as a transfer target for Spurs, as they continue to search for a new goalkeeper.

Tottenham are keen to bring in another shot-stopper, as first choice Brad Friedel is 41, and have made enquiries about a number of players, even though they are still to appoint a new manager.

White Hart Lane officials were keen to land Robert Green, but the England man has agreed to join QPR following the expiry of his contract at West Ham.

Spurs have now turned their attention to Bordeaux's Carrasso, reports Le Parisien.

The French club value the 30-year-old at around ?5.5million, a figure that will not deter Tottenham.

Negotiations are likely to begin once Carrasso returns from Euro 2012, where he is Les Bleus' third choice goalkeeper behind Hugo Lloris and Steve Mandanda.

Spurs have also been linked with Lloris, but Lyon want ?12million for the 25-year-old, who is a target for Barcelona.

the list is endless for people that are great elsewhere but may not be suitable to this league or another league in particular.

that isnt to say Kaka would fail though, he would clearly be the most talented player in our team, in a natural ability sort of way....but application and talent are different things at their core

Agreed.


Even in his peak i thought he was overrated. I'm not saying i didn't think he was good but he wasn't as good as people made out (and he's been a flop at Real).

Former Word Player of the Year and Ballon d'Or winner not good enough for the mighty Spurs who currently boast the likes of Jermain Jenas and Jake Livermore in midfield? He has more technical ability in his left toe than Scotty boy in his entire DNA structure.

I wonder what Brazil, Real Madrid and AC Milan were thinking all these years

incidentally , the point about VDV is a good. most talented player overall in this team, i was worried when we wnet in for him cause we would have to build the team around him and cater for his tendencies as players like these HAVE to play a certain way to play well

and it all happened according to prophecy.

best player on our team but we had to go away from a winning formation in order to accommodate him......then next season we had to buy the right striker so that the new system , brought about by his purchase, could work.

if we buy kaka, then VDV would have to be dropped. cant play them both in the same team unless one of them is going to play as a lone forward
 
Would it be ridiculous to suggest that we hold a summer fair on the corner pin to raise enough money to buy joe lewis' yacht? Then with the money he gets, go on public demonstrations to pressurise him into using that money to buy ronaldo? Anyone who suggests this is a pipe dream need to remember who we are. Were tottenham fudging hotspur, and we have gareth bale, the best left winger in the WORLD.

Never had any fears for VDV.

Do have fears for Kaka. Once again, dont doubt his quality at all - but that doesnt mean it will translate to being a success in the Premiership.

That is not to say he isnt good enough, just that he isnt suited - horses for courses.

As Affy says the team would have to be built around him.

As well as that despite his ability I dont thin the physical nature of the league will get the best from him - or even see him stay fit through the season.

And lets be honest, can you honestly imagine him being sensational on a winter night at the Britannia stadium?!

Spain and Italy he is well adapted for, England? I dont think so.
 
sneijder is a CM that can and has played as a deep lying playmaker with higher responsibilities for defending...has shown on many occasions , even that i have seen personally, a high propensity to work hard and be tenacious...and press the fudge out of the opposition

VDV is a wing forward come support striker and at most he is an attacking midfielder with little to no defensive responsibilities given to him. this is the man that said he doesnt like or want to chase back on the defensive end "i just dont do that, it isnt me".

VDV wont play next to sneijder..he'll play ahead of him.

one of the best things i saw of snejider was the game of holland against portugal i think...they played him on the left side for a spell and he made that brick his own, cutting in and controlling the middle and feeding the overlapping full back
