Coronavirus

BBC news have hit a crisis point, there aren't any new experts spreading doom and gloom to show so now having to show bad news from USA. I'm pleased we don't put our heads in the sand and pretend things aren't bad but searching for sad "human interest" stories around the world is not news. Anyone who doesn't know by now it's bad around the world must be an idiot. I want real news of events not stories to fill time that's what you tube is there for.
It's the same with Sky - Emergency Virus Pandemic Alert
I genuinely don't know why the Govt and the science reps just don't do their slot then go, don't waste breath answering the ridiculous journo questions each day

The journo section does my head in, they are all falling over themselves to try and show more disdain for the government than the one before them!

I'd like to see them cut the politicians out of it and just have the experts questioned by science/health journos.

I wouldn’t. That lot have more than a few questions to answer - hence the reason they all look shifty as fudge when they are behind the podium.

Mind you, no chance of asking Priti Patel any questions - she seems to have taken social distancing to a whole new level. Gove hiding at home, and Cummings missing-in-action too.

I read they are keeping Patel off coverage

The politicians aren't saying anything of value and the lobby journalists are seeing this as a Westminster issue rather than a public health issue.

I'd like some proper questions on what we are doing, why and the impact that it is having by people who understand it and to people who should be able to answer in detail.

And watching a Raab press conference makes my teeth itch

Agree that the questions have been at kindergarten level. Laura Kunsberg is the worst - and it’s a very very low bar.

Get used to it he is going to be the new prime minister.

Been told in a text by my mate Boris is dead.

He must be scaring the brick out the nurses he’s talking to in the normal ward he’s just been moved to then.:D

Seen two separate tv news pieces today, one on Australia and one on New Zealand, with similar themes - very low death rates in comparison to european nations. The commentators in both cases seemed to give a lot of the credit for this to (among other factors) strong border restrictions enacted earlier in the piece. This in my view was one of our government's clearest errors.

I do wonder however if the commentators aren't missing another rather obvious factor that I didn't hear mentioned - the seasonal difference?

What is the current thinking on the likely seasonality of the virus?
