Coronavirus

Don’t forget that it also front-loads the majority of death into the first year of the electoral cycle. By 2023, red wall voters will have forgotten their grandmas and be excited that houses are suddenly so cheap, and that social care costs are so manageable. Classic Dom.

By this point, we should really be tracking deaths and possibly intensive care hospitalisations, rather than positive tests, which only really tell you how testing resources are being rationed.
One of the reasons that Norway have such high numbers, is the intensive testing compared to most other countries. Over 20000 have been tested here.
UK are acting too slow, and will feel the pain and suffer for it.

A group of Dutch scientists believe they’ve found an antibody that could help to detect and prevent the coronavirus from being able to infect people.

It hasn’t been tested on humans - a process that will take months.

The researchers at the Erasmus Medical Centre and Utrecht University describe their discovery as an antibody to Sars2, the coronavirus causing the current pandemic (Covid-19).

The scientists were already working on an antibody for Sars1 and when the new coronavirus broke out, they said they had found that the same antibodies cross-reacted and blocked the infection.

Their findings are still being reviewed and the antibody is yet to be rigorously tested.

The researchers are hoping to convince a pharmaceutical company to support its mass production as a medicine which they believe would detect and prevent the spread of the virus.

A separate Covid-19 vaccine could take years to develop - by which point the virus may have disappeared

I love noodles, I've just never liked the smell when other people have had Pot Noodles and decided to avoid

I'm not saying they are my first choice food wise but they fine when your strapped for choice and living in a bivi in the middle of nowhere!

Nor me...I’m going to wait until they’ve been rigorously tested and got through human trials.

As I understand it, the latest pot noodles were being tested on pangolins that were released by some foolish environmental activists, causing the outbreak in the first place.

Here we've upped the ante for the next ten days

  • Closure of all retail outlets with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies, drugstores, banks, posts and petrol stations.
  • Closure of all restaurants except for fast-foods and restaurants with takeaway food without entering the facilities.
  • Internet shops remain open for food and groceries
As of Monday the country will be in lock-down basically, this is in effect for the next 30 days
  • Czech citizens and foreign nationals with Czech residency can enter but can't leave the Czech Republic.
  • Non-Czech nationals without residency can't enter.

Seems to make perfect sense as a strategy.

Of course, it will seem needlessly dangerous if a vaccine is produced quickly. But in the far more likely event one isn't, it seems the only sensible course.

The first test of it will be when Italy relaxes its measures and how quickly cases rise again. My understanding is that we need to keep cases below 100k based on ICU capacity
