Troy Parrott

Don't like these stories about Troy hanging out with the son of one of scummiest clams that ever existed in Ireland, and pulling Alli in as well. This kid Byrne who's father ran with the KInahan gang appears to be living outside his means as a car dealer. Yes I've only spotted this from the infamous Harry Hotspur. So just had a chat with a friend at Belvedere FC. He feels the kid will tinkle it all away, but he's also an Arse fan so fudge him.

Hopefully it won't be a thing and he kicks on soon. https://www.thesun.ie/sport/5102329/troy-parrott-dubai-dele-ali/

Yeah, I saw that too.
That site can't exactly be trusted but when they post up actual photos then you can at least take those as real.

What? Mourinho suddenly has some social conscious? And that's the reason he isn't playing a young player?
Mourinho a few months back was boasting about getting personal invitation from the gangster running Saudi Arabia. The guy behind all torturing and killings in the last few years.
Mourinho rightly didn't care about the gangsters Gerrard grew up with when he was desperate to sign him.

Mourinho simply doesn't like young players.

The reality is that if you grow up in inner city Dublin you know these types of figures. Andy Reid friends were no better.

The issue here is half the Kinahan's are hiding out in Dubai. It was a stupid thing for Parrott to go on holiday there and not expect them to turn up. Byrne is obsessed with hanging around celebs. You'll see photos of him with Connor McGregor and Tyson Fury.

One thing this illustrates is how big Parrott is in Ireland. How hungry the media are for stories about him. And what kind of pressure he is under.

Mourinho simply doesn't like young players.

Our starting eleven against RB had five players 23 or younger. As well as Winks at 24.

Two new signings in January, both young. Making Lo Celso permanent, another fairly young player.

Introducing Tanganga at 20 in massive games.

Mourinho must be absolutely fuming about what's going on at the club if he simply doesn't like young players.

Or maybe, just maybe, Parrott isn't quite ready yet having just turned 18. Like Kane wasn't, like Winks wasn't. Like just about every player in our squad probably wouldn't have been had they been here at 18.

Like Marcus Rashford wasnt. When he came out of nowhere and was given a debut at 18 by Van Gaal after all their other strikers got injured.
Sometimes you dont know if a player is ready until he seizes the oppurtunity.

Regardless like you say Mourinho doesnt think he is ready. That has nothing to do with his background.

It would be nice to give him some u23 games. He needs to be playing games at 18 to develop. He hasnt played in over 10 weeks.

Skipp is another who gets so playing time at any level. He will go backwards.

The only two players I can remember who have been successful for us at such a young age since the 90s, are Lennon and Dele. In other words: It's quite rare.

You keep bringing up individual players that broke through at this level extremely early (and went on to make it at this level). For every one of those I could mention a handful of players that broke through later and made it. What are you basing the comparison to the players you choose to compare him to on? Why is he more of a Rashford instead on a Kane?

Since you brought up Rashford as your example this time. He was 18 years and close to four months when he made his PL debut. Meaning Parrott has most of this season left to match that, and that's a very young breakthrough.

Why not patience?

Because he's Irish.
I think the lack of patience is due to the fact we don’t have a number 9. The fact Mourinho is prepared to let us play without him on the bench should infer he is not ready and Mourinho is taking a longer term view on him, ie he doesn’t want to break him by either bringing him in too early or giving him too much too soon.
Personally I don’t see the harm in having a young wildcard on the bench to throw on with 10 minutes to go, but I felt like that about Edwards at the time too.
I hope we see more of a Tanganga who has been an astute promotion from the academy and he wasn’t used just to force Rose out!

I was talking about ModricTHFC. Apologies for not making myself clear. I, too, am keen for Parrott to get some minutes.

Have you actually watched Parrott play? He isn't playing because he isn't yet good enough. That is the only reason. There are a ridiculously small number of players who have both Wayne Rooney's ability and physical prowess at 17/18. Parrott has neither. He MAY (and it's still 50-50 At best) become a PL standard striker. Every team in the PL will have a player of similar age and standing, not even 10% of them will have a career in the PL.

Parrott is a decent young striker at youth level. That is it. In 3 or 4 years time he might be good enough to lead the line for a PL team, the odds are that he probably won't however.

Actually his physicality is very good and dare I say manly
I don’t know why we’re not playing him but I don’t see him in training to comment. Jose does

It isn't (or at least it wasn't before his recent exile from any football). Yes it is better than under 19 level, that means nothing.... In proper men's football he is still a little weak.

Players at 17/18 who make it that early generally have incredible pace or touch (usually both). Parrott has neither. If you don't have that pace then you can make up for it with touch and strength (like Rooney). Again Parrot is nowhere near that level of player. He isn't really any better than Harry Kane was at that age.

It was fine in the pre season names and also when he played for Eire. That was against men don’t forget

We have all seen him play at senior level.

The one thing he definitely has is the required physicality.

He can hold the ball upfront on his in in a Mick McCarthy side. Something Moura, Son or Bergwijn wouldn't be able to do.

But I'd be happy right now if he was just allowed to play u23 games. Him not having a single game at any level for 11 weeks is destroying his development.

Also whoever said he is no better than Kane at 17 or 18. Are you insane? He is miles better. Ireland would have capped Kane at 18 if had Parrott's ability.

I think he has real talent (from the little I have seen) and great potential.
I agree with Mourinho in not putting it all on him right now, as such pressure on young shoulders when we are still trying to work out how we will be playing and creating would be potentially fatal to his overall development.

Pre-season is played at half pace and without committing to challenges. It is good experience for him but I am not sure how much we can use it as a measure of if he is ready.
