Or alternatively...... had Winks played last night and done his standard side to side passing with our defence, we would’ve looked as pedestrian as we did against Watford. Cause and effect.

You think Winks passes sideways by choice

I think by necessity

Nice to have differing opinions

Also nice to recognise when it's run its course

Sissoko is cleaning up I agree
But he isn’t offering an all round game
We don’t know what we don’t know with winks and NDombele as a pairing

what I will say is that sissoko and NDombele are best mates currently, speak the same language and it looked balanced vs the worse side we will play this season.

against better sides we will need players who can pass as well as run and tackle. Sissoko falls down on that compared to winks but seems to be the main man for covering ground in the team
I agree with you here that ideally Sissoko makes way in the team for a real top class midfielder (Dacoure?). Making way for Winks though makes very little sense to me as he doesn’t really run, doesn’t defend well and, while can can pass, most of it is the type of stats enhancing, but pointless passing that we specialized in under AVB.

we can only beat the team on front so us but they looked weaker than Colchester IMO and certainly less organised

they will be different away form home (really don’t understand that phenomenon) but I fancy us to get the job done there

pool away is a whole different ball game. Strangely it’s the one I’ve been saying to my mates that we would turn the corner in but I can work out why I think that ....

I've always said we're a side who tend to raise (and lower) our game to meet the quality of the opposition :D

They aren't a bad team, we just made them look a bad team.
We didn't let them play.

It really isn’t, it’s just the way some fans want to see it.

I heard people say he was passing backwards on Saturday even when he was passing the ball forwards because it suits their need to main and bone someone in the ground

in fact in the second half once son came on and started running and opening space it was Winks that attacked it

and people seem to think there is some super duper creative passing deep lying CM out there. The only one I can think of is Jorginho and I haven’t seen much of him this year but last season when under pressure he crumbled in a way that out fans wouldn’t accept

I've yet to see Dacoure dominate a game and have not seen anything that shows me he can open up teams with his passing when they park the bus, he's a good player when there is bags of space for him to run or pass into, with regards to Winks his playing style is restricted when playing in the deeper role he has had to play this season much better player when allowed to play further forward.

So who do we drop to play Winks further forward and who do we play as the deeper midfielder? I thought our balance last night in midfield was excellent, not sure directly swapping any of the players for Winks would’ve improved us?

dacoure was quite dominant last week vs us
The guy plays like viera just with dog brick players around him

In some cases youre right, but it's very much the classic case of the truth being somewhere in between. We were great at times, but at times they were GHod damn awful - they gave the ball away to us a lot even when we wasnt pressing them.

Watford are a far better side than them, and considering where they are in the league that says it all...

Based on what? I think Sissoko has proved he's better at the moment.

Hardly dominant in my opinion just had bags of space as we were more concerned with attacking them than shutting him down, would he have that time and space if other teams see him a a real class player who needs to be stopped?

*Ndombele in our own ranks and there are plenty of creative passer CMs out there. They contend to be expensive as they are a very desired commodity for the top teams.

Ndombele isn’t a deep lying player maker
I’ve watched him for 2 years before we brought him. He so very much a Dembele style driver form midfield who can pass well

how?
Hasn’t he played in our games we have lost too?
I like sissoko. For me he was out POTY a last season
But for me also it doesn’t mean he has to play this season if we have better options... and that’s the if and unknown
We do have to keep NDombele on the pitch as his passing is top notch, but he is lax currently on the defensive side and that’s one of sissoko a strengths so maybe that’s the complimentary pairing. But unless we see other options we won’t know

I would add Aurier's only acceptable/good games are also aligned with Sissoko being in squad (mates, language, look out for each other, etc.), so if the 3 work as partnership, all the more power to it.

I really believe one of the issues we have had is not players but finding the right chemistry between certain pairs/groups (the who plays together in the whole Kane, Son, Lucas, Dele, Eriksen, Lamela or who together out of Jan, Toby, Foyth, Sanchez, Dier, etc.), sometimes the sum is greater than the parts and we have been missing that.

Re the Winks and Sissoko thing, to me it's simple

- the best and worst Spurs have played under Poch are usually directly connected to the tempo we play (fast = good game, slow = brick game)
- Tempo is not about how fast you run, it's how fast you move forward, pass the ball, pressure the opposition
- Winks may be better technically but he's without doubt less aggressive than Sissoko

You put Sissoko, N'dombele, Lamela and Son in a side and you are pretty sure they are going to bring a lot of energy to the game.

Personally, I'm not a Sissoko fan by a long, long way but I think him and Ndombele have earned a starting berth at Anfield based on last night. In theory, I can see how Sissoko compliments Ndombele in a way that Winks wouldn't and with Dier struggling for minutes and form, I think we should given them a chance to prove it over a few games. Liverpool will be a good test for them and tell us more because as good as we were last night, RSB weren't a stiff test.

Agree fully
You can’t IMO change a team after a massive win
