That’s actually easier to defend against if we break than when everyone’s back and you have 3/4 players breaking from our 18 yard box. It’s very common now for teams to bring everyone back to defend corners.
 
Good intensity to this. Lamela, KWP (looks leaner and more mobile - think higher confident might be a part of it) and Verts have looked sharp and good. Like to see Alli in the second half, expect we will.
 
The diamond is a complete flop once again. Hopefully Poch will finally give up on it after this first half. We can't get near them defensively, and we don't find each other when we have the ball.
 
Oh, just read elsewhere he's injured. This midfield reminds me of Liverpool's but I prefer our group of three. Amazing ball carrying ability between the three of them.
 
Huge reliance on Kane, Lucas and Lamela to create everything in this formation.
Last season we had Errksen and Dele filling in midfield when we played a 433 or diamond.
That gave us much more of a goal threat.

We can't play this way with Lucas and Lamela.

They are Mane or Salah at Liverpool.

They are way too inconsistent even within the same game to be relied on to create everything.

I like the trio in theory, just a shame there won't be too many long range scorchers as none of the three are particularly great at shooting from range.

Some pretty late challenges considering it's a friendly..

Neither Lucas or Lamela would be in our first choice 11, and Lamela possibly not in our first 18...so hopefully its not as desperate as it sounds
 
Played with all the intensity of a park kick around.

KWP did some nice things, Lamela was excellent, Kane looks strong and fit, Winks and Sanchez look under cooked, hard to judge anybody else.

It was a really successful formation for us at times last season. We probably wouldn't have got to the CL final without it. The good thing is that we nearly always switch formation three or four times a game under Poch, so if you don't like it, you don't have long to wait for something different.
