Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Licence To Stand

Evening Standard: In the end they met the 25,000 requirement comfortably with 28,987 coming through the doors. There were some early hiccups with the ticketing which are all part of the testing process and in the end everyone got in.

I'm pleased to read this, as to be honest it looked quite empty i.e. some sections were only about 10% full and many sections seemed to have more than "every other seat" empty so I was concerned... i.e. it looked quite a lot less than half full in some images, but clearly it was almost half full.

Great news. So far so good I guess?

A lot of people never left the bar areas from what i could see

Also more good news: "There was a fear over the proximity of the corner flags to the edges of the pitch and the drop around them
However, there was no problem at all. All the corners taken were done so with room for at least four or five big steps before they were taken.
"

I think most people were enjoying the ‘facilities’ in the second half, so no need to worry there!

Were any of the 'posh seats' open i.e. boxes, H Club, Loges, Tunnel Club, Sky wotsit etcetera? I saw one of you went in a box.

Any photos of East/West/North, I've seen SouthStand level 1 about a billion times but there must be plenty more to see... all those bars like the Dispensary, Shelf etc

Some good sounding audio from the latest Cowlin video from the match. Towards the end there you can quite clearly hear/imagine how awesome that 17k tier stand will sound like when it's full and fired up! :D

North stand level 4 you have a great view from inside the stadium. Thought I’d get a pint and watch from there then Get back in at HT to see The Magic One talk. Problem is they close the blinds [emoji28]

What’s the deal with these pillars I’m seeing in some photos? I’m guessing that’s view from inside the concourse and the glass is just exceptionally clean!

@Bullet thoughts.

Just pure excitment. Walking into the seats from the concourse has that WHL feel - like being a kid again. Don't want to overdo it and over hype expectations. But there is that WOW as you emerge into the arena. To arrive 2min before kickoff to a full rocking atmosphere will be awe inspiring. Even empty it impresses you.

It's a nice place to be. I worry for the local rub a dubs - can't see people boozing outside the stadium much. Maybe by 2020 the novality might have worn off! All the space are to be defined and worked out. There is a lot space, lots of areas to find their own niche habits etc. Some of the spaces are not finished (or open) yet. The southern end of the concourse and the area outside are the natural places to congregate. But there are all sorts of spots you can find - and people will need to with 60k in there. Lots of little bars and nice places with views out the glass.

I sat in 3 different areas during the game. All have perfect views, you are right ontop of the pitch in all but the lowest seats. It will be loud ! The highlight for me? The two stands singing to each other. It was the new with the old. As footie fans go, it was a beautiful thing, pure emotion.

Defo troll. It is taken from inside the north stand! That's how good this stadium is. The only blocks to sight lines are when taking photos from its inside; the view is so good from there, it looks like your in the arena!

That is a window frame I think.

I know this thread is about the Stadium (which is incredible), i thought our youngsters were great today.

J’Niell Bennets goal was a screamer and if that was Sonny or Harry that had scored it there would be plaudits singing their praises. He looked a real player if I am honest and I dont think it will be too long before we start seeing him on the fringes of the first team.

Well, that was superb.
For all that we would obviously have preferred to be in much sooner, the impact of seeing the close-to-finished model is almost worth the wait.
I had a huge smile on my face approaching the stadium and walking around the concourse area, as well as a tear in my eye on walking out into the stadium bowl. My ST is in the Paxton, so seeing the huge, single tier stand facing me was just amazing. I can’t wait to see it and hear it - at full capacity. It is going to be fantastic.

I was pleased during the game that there was a fair bit of singing around me. I don’t know if they were ST holders or not but it augered well for a good atmosphere in the Paxton stand also.

Everything feels so close to the pitch and the accoustics are great. To actually be able to properly hear a pitch side half-time interview was a novelty all of its own. Music, announcements, etc all came through loud and clear.

The interior was also superb. I only walked around the lower level (saving the upper levels and exterior for next week), but it feels extremely spacious and there are so many different outlets to choose from. Whereas before, all the bars/food counters looked much the same, now there is so much colour and individualism in each area and a real vibrancy about everything on offer.
I was a bit sceptical about the concept of people staying behind after a game, and time will tell once the novelty wears off, but having been there I can see why this would work.

All in all, we have an excellent, world class stadium in our possession. It was great to hear the loud round of appplaise when Poch paid tribute to Levy. Whatever faults he may have to some, he has well and truly delivered on this project. Hats off.

Have to say I was a tad wary on the way to the stadium, expecting to find when I got there it did not quite live up to the hype but ....

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How wrong can you be?

Thing is, you have to be there to know what everyone's been going on about. As you emerge round the corner into the High Street from WHL station it quite literally takes your breath away. You cannot help but go WOW !!!

Then a feeling of immense pride sweeps over you as you take in the sheer brilliance of it aland realise it's OURS !!!!. This is the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and if there is a better one in Europe I want to know where it is.

It is just unreal.

The next thing that really struck me was how friendly and helpful all the stewards were. And there were hordes of 'em. Everywhere you turned. All of them smiling, checking you were okay, wanting to help you find your way to the right entrance etc.

Was a bit disappointed however to discover once inside that there were no escalators. Having had a hip op recently I'd have appreciated that. Yes there are lifts but they are signed for the disabled so presumably you have to show a disability badge or something. Daresay they would have let me use it anyway but I needed to keep up with our group so ended up with a bit of a slog getting to the top.

Once inside the stadium and in your seat the next thing that really hits you is just how incredible compact it all is. We were almost overlooking the halfway line from near the front of the top tier and it felt so much closer than it did from a similar position at Wembley.

Then you find yourself taking in the wonderfully impressive screens. Now to actually enjoy watching replays of the goals instead of having to squint. It looks like from wherever you are sat there is at least one screen that will provide a crystal clear unobstructed view.

And so to the game. We are fortunate to be able to watch a mini-clone of the first team, the way they pass the ball around, press whenever required to regain possession and break down defences with moments of quality penetration.

The first goal is totally befitting the christening of such a magnificent stadium. J'Neill Bennett fastens on to a pass on the left edge of the box, shimmies past a defender or two and let's rip a belter from outside the box that nestles into the far corner, reminding us of Harry Kane's ripsnorter against Arsenal a couple of seasons back.

Harvey White's penalty also conjures up the assurance of Harry the way he plants it resolutely into the back of the net to take us into the break 2-0 up. Southampton look more threatening second half and it's no surprise when they pull one back before Markanday seals a 3-1 triumph with nonchalance following Skipp's parried long range shot.

The journey home is more of a pain as we have to wait almost an hour for the overhead train from WHL station back to Bush Hill Park.

But hey, it matters nothing given it's been such an unforgettable day.
