I've never thought he was as good as many seem to think on here. But in your photo above, there is only one pass. The cross field balls you need a moment to see them, step back and strike the ball. Time he didn't have. He went for the open pass, and it was intercepted. It wasn't great, but on here it is as though no one's ever seen that happen before. Lamela made a worse pass, but it didn't result in a goal so no knee jerk.

As I said, Poch should set the side up to contain for a couple of minutes until the break. Trippier had Sissoko supporting him all game, then suddenly he's got no options. @thfcsteff wants to heap all the blame on one guy for not playing it long to get to half time, when the manger, verts, etc are also part of the equation, its a team sport.

Trippier has become the new Sissoko?

Given our current paucity of options in central midfield, I think it may be time to revert to three at the back. Without the requisite cover, Trippier especially, but also Aurier look exposed. I think they are both better as wingbacks anyway. If we deployed Rose and Trippier/Aurier as forward looking wing backs leaving three CBS as cover behind them, we could both then both cover our current weaknesses and exploit our current full backs best attributes.

Two seasons ago we had Rose, Walker, Dembele and Wanyama in LB, RB and CM respectively. Doesn't take a genius to figure out which positions we have regressed in and new upgrading. CM is the most urgent position in need of an upgrade as we already have Aurier who is more competent than Trippier, Poch just needs to play him more.

Maybe something like the following in the next game ?

----------------------Lloris
---Sanchez---------Toby----------Verts
-----------------------Winks
---------- Lamela------------Eriksen
Aurier-------------------------------------Rose
------------------------Ali
---------------------Llorente

Who is WC in Cm in the prem?

By the standards people are putting on our players I’d say Fernandinho and that’s about it

Well in answer to your question there aren't many world class CM's except Fernandinho in the Premier League but that's besides the point. We have borderline world class players in almost every other position in the team and we should be striving for the same in every position in the team regardless of who our rivals currently have. RB and CM are the two positions in which we are weaker compared to the 2-3 seasons.

Don’t disagree and think your right

I like that team and would go with it provided we actually utilise Llorente and get in plenty of crosses (Aurier has shown himself capable of putting in a good cross). But whenever Kane has been out Poch has been reluctant to start with Llorente - maybe he will be forced to this time with Son away and other injuries but still wouldnt shock me if he ends up putting Lucas or some other AM in the forward role instead....

Despite Trips error yesterday he is still the better of the 2 going forward. If I were playing 3 at the back with WBs I'd defo go Trips. Aurier's delivery is nowhere near as dangerous imo.

Love to know the percentage figure that Man u tv.... oh sorry sky sports showed the Utd bench,Solskaer,Fergie in the crowd, the Utd fans and the deep throating of Tyler/Neville of Utd performance ,the talk of Poch going to Utd and Redknapp love in with Pogba yesterday.....impartial it was like CNN talking down Trump every day.....
If I had a sky sports subscription I would cancel it.

I like this but with Sanchez central, for me. To sweep behind the two geriatrics and also as it will give Alder and Vertonghen a better angle for their long passes.

This lineup would suit Trippier better actually.

I agree i would do the same .....someone posted on here today on the number of close ups of the Man ure sky family yesterday,ok a quick glance but yesterday 20/30 seconds,a close up,a big roar, still on solskaer ,still on him, ball fifty yards up the pitch where we last saw it. Why did they cut to Ed Woodward going into a dressing room what was the point of that, implying he could be going our dressing room....sigh....what the fudge!!! Their production has been quite amateurish over the last couple of seasons, and this constant constant discussion of man ure zzzzzzzzzz.....and i find strange how Emirates Marketing Project spending and the impending fine from UEFA has been sought of never mentioned and swept under the carpet....never discussed never mentioned, nothing.

On some rivers you can catch some pundits before the game from other countries, its a breath of fresh air, totally balanced views and no love ins...

Think we are more likely to see Lamela as a false 9 again - Alli drop back and Moura

Also once you miss two, three, five chances then you start to snatch at them.

We started losing our confidence in front of goal and lacked final composure. You could say it was eroded by the slew of missed opportunities.

Really unfortunate but hard to avoid. Conversely if we took one of our early chances in the second half, I'm certain the pressure would have been released and the flood gates would have opened.

Agreed. Just felt like it was going to be one of those days once we squandered those chances to level the score straight after half time; much like when Chavski hit the post twice last Tuesday it felt like we were destined to keep a clean sheet... it’s a funny old game!

For all the media toss-fest over de Gea’s 11 saves I’d have been disappointed had Lloris allowed any of these in... having said that, I think that Jenas had a point about Lloris being too far across his near post when Rashford had his shot which gave the young whippet a bigger target to aim for than any of our FWDs had.

I'm not sure that I definitely agree with you here. It always looks to me as though Trippier is rather ponderous between the ball reaching him and him getting his cross off. In having said that, the main reason I chose both Rose and Aurier as the two wingbacks is for their superior athleticism compared to Davies and Trippier.

Yeah I did too, he was very close in. Was definitely comparable to the one Rashford notched.
I thought Kane's was the better chance of the two as it appeared to me as though Kane was more central than Rashford was when he got his shot away. I looked to me as though Kane was trying to hit it hard, just to the side of De Gea's feet (which to be fair does result in a goal in those situations) as opposed to take the shot across the keeper towards the far post.

I thought that some of our football around Man Utd's packed penalty area was excellent in the second half yesterday. Look how many chances we had inside the penalty area yesterday compared to Chelsea against us in the League Cup match on Tuesday where we played a similarly defensive game.
