Christian Eriksen

When Sherwood was in chrage Eriksen spoke about playing in the deeper role and said he preferred it as he gets to dictate the game and picks the tempo. I'll try and find the article.

It’s why I’ve said he should play with a holder there against defensive sides

And we can then play 3 in front plus Kane

That only makes sense if the 3 in front of him are quality, with Son, Del, Lamela, Lucas & Kane it's probably the first time that we have the option to play 4 players in front of him that make sense.

He's right in form now, hopefully he keeps the run going. Now, 4 of the 5 seasons he's been with us, he's hit double figures (10+), 2 goals away from his best return for us.

Against bus Parker’s it gets our last attacking options on the pitch

It exactly how city play with De Bruyne next to Fernandinho

Think he could play from a deeper midfield role more regularly. With Son and Moura using pace and trickery to stretch play, and Eriksen running into space in front of the box from deep - extremely hard to track and he’s so dangerous with a little space in that area.

He was a joy to watch against Swansea but they gave him free rein. Honestly they just backed off him and let him do his thing, and he did.

He was immense yesterday and run the game for us, I have been lucky enough to have seen some great midfield players during my time watching Spurs, Hoddle, Ossie, Modric, White, Gazza to name just a few but Eriksen is among that group ( imo) and he is still only 26.

Don't forget Danny Boy, although none of them got stuck in or won many headers!

He is like a Modric with goals.

From The Grauniad:

5) Chelsea missed a trick with Eriksen
Watching Christian Eriksen running the show at Swansea on Saturday, it was tempting to recall the time that we sat down together at Ajax’s training ground, in 2012, and he told the story about how Chelsea had invited him for a couple of trials with the club, at the age of 14 and 15, but decided that he was not for them. At the time Chelsea’s thinking was influenced by the fact that they already had Josh McEachran, who was a year younger and played in a similar position. Chelsea, at the risk of stating the obvious, missed a trick. After thriving at Ajax, where first-team opportunities arrived much sooner than they would have done at Chelsea, Eriksen has blossomed into one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe. He scores splendid goals, creates them in equal measure and plays how he talked all those years ago: intelligently. Stuart James
