By the time you've ensured that consultation exercises are free, fair and haven't been gamed by vested interests, you'd have been a thousand times better asking an expert. And you're suggesting a public consultation or vote for each of a hundred thousand different standards. That would keep government busy until the earth was swallowed by an expanding sun.

No, I'm suggesting people vote with their wallets as they already do (when they mean what they say and aren't just virtue signalling).

Eurozone is just the Euro currency. No one in Italy remotely believes in exiting the EU. Even the Euro they recognise as being beneficial so FIve Star and others play with it for political gain, but have ruled out a referendum. Sorry to break it to you, but it is hardly the demise of the EU that many Leavers prophesied. The EU is growing faster than the UK economy too. In fact we have gone from the fastest growing advanced economy pre-Brexit vote, to the slowest.

If anything, it might help put pressure on the EU to change some things, with pressure from Italy, Austria, Hungary, Poland.
The kind of change we could have led on if we hadn't been so self righteous

And the Nordic countries plus Holland and Belgium have never been federalist. The crap spouted by the press and Leavers about how the EU is federalist, how we'll all be a united states of Europe are just lies. Not only are there many nations who are extremely nationalist in the EU, each european nation has its own distinct language and culture. Europe's nations are some of the oldest and developed cultures in the world. You can not wipe that away.

Italy is feeling the effects of 600,000 Libyans and Africans crossing the med onto its shores. It's one of the main routes into a european nation. But Italian politicians understand the value of Europe to their nation, and despite the difficulties they face, even the eurosceptic parties in Italy are more pro-EU than our 2 main parties currently are! So to paint a picture of Italy in revolt against the EU, is just false. Five Star, a so called eurosceptic party, ruled out a referendum on the Euro in Italy if it won.
