Victor Wanyama

George Marsh is possibly an option to if we do want a specialist DM - i.e. his probably a more useful 6th CM than a crocked Wanyama

I think Dier might feature more at CB as Alder is wound down.

Report: AS Monaco have registered interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama

According to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, French giants AS Monaco have registered some interest in securing the services of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama this summer.

The 28-year-old is also wanted by Bournemouth and West Ham United, and an exit could be on the cards for the Kenyan international following the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele.

Wanyama also have the trio of Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Eric Dier to contest with for playing minutes, and it’s safe to say they are ahead of him in manager Mauricio Pochettino’s pecking order.

The former Southampton midfielder is already out of favour at Tottenham, featuring in just 22 matches across all competitions last season.

However, he will most likely be a starter at Monaco who are looking to rebuild their squad after struggling in the last two campaigns since beating Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title.

Wanyama could favour remaining in the Premier League, though, and the Cherries and Hammers won’t hesitate to come for him once he expresses the wish to leave Spurs, while Turkish giants Galatasaray are also interested in him.

The ex-Celtic powerhouse featured in 47 games for Tottenham upon arriving from Saint Mary’s three summers ago, but an injury limited him to just 24 games the following season.

Wanyama missed Spurs’ pre-season tour due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations and an irritation in his knee after training last Monday that kept him back in London for assessment.

Strangely in demand considering he is a crock!

Thats good. Unless we have injuries this season, I cant see him starting too many games given that Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, probably Dier and potentially LoCelso/Fernandes will be ahead of him in the pecking order

Better to get shot now - if he doesnt play much for a year then given his knees with him beng 29 next year, then offloading for a reason price might become difficult. Better to take a meaningful (say £10m - £15m) fee now

I would try and use him as a make weight in a deal for Tierney, Celtic fans still love him and probably about his level now sadly.

I'd like Tierney at Spurs but I imagine Wanyama's wages might be a little rich for Celtic. I can't see this one happening.

I honestly never thought Wanyama would have been as in demand as he seems to be so seen it as a last resort for him.
But as you say very unlikely.

If he gets fully fit and back to his best could you imagine a midfield 3 of

Sissy Wanyama and Ndombele away to City and Liverpool? With Son and Lucas on the counter and Kane in the middle being suplied. Maybe finally got a plan B.
