yeah, but before he moaned it was rotation, he was still playing regularly

I have no issue with how Poch handled that myself

Seems like dropping Moura to accomodate a rushed return for Kane in the CL final is the decision that grates the most.

Talk is talk. It’s what happens on the pitch that really matters.

And that was a really bad choice in the biggest club game we have ever had.

I hope all the rightback shenanigans over the past two and half season is just rumour. But if true I think it illustrates the underlining issues with team management.

From Walker to today is truly sad.

I said it was rotation or dropped? Looking back at the games Poch mentioned in his book he played Walker the next two then dropped him vs the Goons. The point I was making was there was something happening from Walker’s perspective that made him want to leave. I think there was something in the press at the time about Poch not thinking he could play two games in a week.

I don’t have an issue with Poch’s decision in terms of it’s the managers right to do whatever he thinks is necessary to assert his authority on the squad and also select the team and formation that will win the match.
I also don’t have an issue with Walker saying, I’ve been here 9 years, I’m not playing every game and I can go somewhere else and play more games, triple my wages and increase the probability of winning a trophy given the season financially doped advantageous the other club has.
My biggest issue with the whole scenario remains the decision to sell him domestically.

It's not like he had many options. Rose was injured at the time, if I'm not mistaken, and Davies ran the risk of getting torched by Moses. He needed a speedy option down the left.

Rose was injured at Sunderland over Xmas if I remember correctly so Davies was the first choice lwb that whole period, there was no excuse for playing Son there, again if I am remembering correctly it was Son who was so far out of position that the three cb was dragged over resulting in Alderweireld giving that early free kick away, that run of form from Chelsea at the Lane till the end of the season was the best I have seen in 30 years never mind under Poch, there was not a single reason to tinker or change anything especially for a FA Cup semi final.

Moses is not a pacy winger. Also playing Son there negated his offensive capabilities. Not playing Davies there was a mistake to me and I often wondered how Davies took it that Pochettino would rather play Son in that position.

I personally think writing that book was the biggest mistake.

There was a very, very strong rumour that his relationship/marriage was in big trouble and that she was moving North. The rumour continued that this was part of the push to leave, the biggest factor in fact. I did hear that the timing of the request did not go down well...

Any of those last three tbh. All were wrong and in the case of numbers 7 and 9 completely weird.

Glad to hear it. I really enjoyed us getting dingdonged on the largest possible stage by a team with no midfield that didn't bother turning up too.

I wonder whether Poch felt that playing Son in that game would force Moses to have to play defensive and remove Chelsea's attacking width on that same. Of course it spectacularly backfired but I think I can see what he was trying to do there (although I would've just played Davies).

Surely you have enjoyed it more under Pochettino than the previous umpteen years however?

A manager is by in large only as good as his last result!

in which case...Mourinho's last result was a defeat.

I don't think anyone sane would judge a manager on one result.
