Newbie Guide / Dedicated Site Apps / OMTs / Blogs - See first post

@milo I am having real trouble with the Forum at the moment. It is really slow loading and sometimes doesn't load at all but goes back to the previous page or else gives me a blank screen. Also, it is not really letting me like or reply to posts. It is getting really frustrating.

Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions?

I'm not aware of anything but I'll have look. How long has it been like this?

I have problems posting to the forums from time to time. As far as i can tell, I am allowed to post again when someone else has replied to the thread in question.

I find the app very troublesome in the same way as mentioned above. Stopped using it long ago, and sticking with the web version. It's a lot easier to navigate. Especially like the "new posts" button.
The layout is much better in the web version as well.

Am using Chrome on my laptop but Google is telling me my connection to this site may not be secure.

I have tried replacing http:// with https: without success. Cannot log in to the site using that prefix.

Any fixes / suggestions gratefully received.

I mainly use Chrome to access the site and haven't had the same problem. What operating system is that on?

Chrome My laptop is a ChromeBook that uses Google's own version, Chrome OS.

Aha, in checking out the system I've just discovered I probably need to do a powerwash which will wipe everything and restore the laptop to it's original factory setting

Will report back shortly (hopefully).

Is the GG address on yours preceded by https://? Mine shows an i in a circle which when I click on it states the site may not be secure. Following a crash earlier today (something that has not happened for months) I wondered whether my system now has a bug. Not being a techie or anything I'm not sure what to make of it.

I'm not on my Chrome now, so I cannot check.

I use a plug in on Chrome that forces an https connection where available.

Have you tried accessing the site in privacy mode?

Strange.

Does it do the same if you try to access the home page rather than the forum?
Yep. Have just added HTTPS everywhere and when I use it I'm getting the message This site cannot be accessed.

Like you say, strange. Not sure if a powerwash will make any difference but it's looking like that's my only remaining option.

I use HTTPS Everywhere and don't get that problem.

Powerwash done but still getting the same problem, ie this site is not secure. Have cleared and re-checked cookies, cannot see any problem there.

Weakness in Google Chrome? Spent some time trying to find evidence of a bug, no joy.

Using virginmedia wi-fii so have checked the connection and stuff, seems okay but will phone in the morning to see if they have any suggestions.

Erm... I don't think you have any isuue.

This is perfectly normal.

If I go to the bbc website I get a green padlock and "Secure" to the left of https://www.bbc...

On this website I get an i in a circle, to the left of www.glory....
If I click it, it says the site is not secure, don't enter any payment details

But that is perfectly normal as it is not an https:// website

This happens with all http:// websites doesn't it? To become https you have install security certificates and stuff... but there is no need if you are not asking for credit card details etc?

Thanks @Bullet. I half suspected that was the case but nowhere have I read that for most sites it doesn't really matter. So it's reassuring to have it confirmed.

Have spent hours reading about all kinds of solutions, then following the advice given to delete extensions, do a hard reset, powerwash, you name it.

Might have known I was on a wild goose chase!

Now if you'll just post your credit card details........
