Gazza

It's George Best all over again.

While we're talking of George Best I see Ronaldo failing a fitness test. To lace Best's boots.

Top bloke Top player but had too many chances no one can help him apart from himself and as soon as he realises that the better

FOOTBALL legend Paul Gascoigne yesterday angrily denied claims that he is back on the booze.

Reports from Dubai, where the former Rangers star was speaking at a corporate function last week, claimed he was “out of it”.

But Gazza, 45, insisted yesterday that he had been off the booze for 20 months.

And he added: “I didn’t touch a drop of drink at that event.

“I spoke at the event and then socialised with the people who were there but I didn’t drink.

“Sadly, somebody has spread a vicious lie about me. It’s hurtful, and I’m angry about it.

“It means a lot to me that I am open and honest with my friends and family, and the suggestion that I haven’t been is a complete lie.”

The former England midfielder’s agent Terry Baker said Gazza was now a major success on the speaking circuit but he was constantly faced with people trying to press drink on him.

He said: “We make a point of arriving just shortly before he takes to the stage to avoid too much of that. But Paul always makes an effort to meet people afterwards.

“Unfortunately, somebody has tried to take advantage of Paul’s kind nature. His generosity and willingness to chat with fans has been twisted into something else – he’s been stitched up.”

Such a gifted player, but let's himself down outside of the game.

Get off the sauce, go for a run or hit the gym mate - use your energy in a positive way.

Not this.

I know he'll never see this post, but for Christ's sake I hope someone tells him that.

fudge me, I hope we're spared yet another thread about Gazza where the sickness of chronic addiction is mistaken for bad lifestyle choices. But probably not.

Yes he's I'll and unfortunately the drink will never let go now. He doesn't have the fortitude required to break the hold.

I suffered with addiction (won't go into it) but now over it. Was in a bad way too. Difference between weak/strong minded people imaho.

O/T Gazza

Sorry if this has been covered already, but Gazza was invited to the game tonight and yet didn't want to show up. Why the no show?

Re: O/T Gazza

He didnt not show up, he got invited, but his doctor advised him not to go, big difference

Re: O/T Gazza

Paul Gascoigne will now attend Tottenham's Europa League game against Lazio, the agent of the former England star confirmed on Tuesday

Re: O/T Gazza

H'mm. So he's now chosen to fly out to Rome whereas for whatever reason he couldn't manage the short trip to WHL the other week?

He was always a massive favourite with both sets of fans so for me this news begs questions about the way he feels our club has treated him.
