VAR should not be used in situations like that. It should only be used when the decision is clearly wrong! That was a matter of millimeters, and impossible to judge correctly.
That is the way it will be used in the world cup.

This is what I thought too. My expectation was that VAR would hardly ever be used, only when it was thought a huge error had occurred.
 
I am following a live blog and keep reading things like this: "Dier flashes a header over the bar. He should have done much better. That’s a real chance."

Sounds like it could be 4 - nil at this point. We're playing well but being profligate again.

We'll either break through and smash 'em, or it will stay far too close and they'll grab a cheeky goal and we'll rue our wastefulness...
 
This is what I mentioned a while back. If the whistle does go, you should carry on and fire home, just in case the offside gets over-ruled, the same reason why defenders should not stop either
If the whistle did go he shouldn't give the goal regardless of VAR, that's the rules I am guessing he only blew after the ball hit the net.
