Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? 90s Spurs book (15th April 2024)

That is some considerable effort to have got there! I watched back the highlights of this game while researching. Not much you can reliably tell from a 7-minute clip but it looked like, despite the state of the pitch, that we just passed Oldham to death and took our goals, scored at really...

Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? 90s Spurs book (15th April 2024)

That's a lovely story and I'm not surprised that you both remember it so affectionately 30 years on! It was Easter Saturday and Teddy's long-awaited return having last played in mid-October. Having won at Everton the week before (our first league win since 28th December!) we thought it might...

Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? 90s Spurs book (15th April 2024)

Morning everyone, This week a preview of the 93/94 season titled 'Ossie's Nightmare' This was a particularly traumatic season in which we nearly got relegated! Ossie had returned as manager bringing Steve Perryman with him but the club was fractious following Venables' sacking in May. We...

Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? 90s Spurs book (15th April 2024)

Yes you're right - Oldham home Sept '93 having had a promising breakout season the year before. He talked about his subsequent injuries that stemmed from this one sadly. When I used to write out my England XI in the back of my school exercise books throughout 93 it was always between him and...

Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? 90s Spurs book (15th April 2024)

Thank you! I managed to name check every one of the 109 players who appeared in a first team game throughout the decade and yer man Deano was well up on that list. Didn't quite have the space to reference the incredible goal line clearance he made right in front of me at the Paxton End in a...

Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? 90s Spurs book (15th April 2024)

Just giving this a shameless bump as just 8 weeks until release now. I'm doing a weekly chapter preview on twitter which I thought I'd share on here to see if it brings up any memories. This week previewing 92/93 titled 'Hope Springs Eternal' and relates to the wonderful spring period when...

    ***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Brentford OMT***

Hi @DaveT316 - sorry only just seen this. It was David Coote wasn't it? Unbelievable that he didn't send Norgaard off! Genuinely can't understand why - sometimes we overreact when a player is on a yellow and then makes one or two more minor fouls that maybe don't warrant a second card but 4...

Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? 90s Spurs book (15th April 2024)

Hi everyone, Delighted to share that I have a book about Spurs in the 90s being published and due out in April of this year. The title is Is Gascoigne Going to Have a Crack? Spurs in the 90s - Magic, Mayhem and Mediocrity. It's a season-by-season chronology of Spurs in the 90s. Julie Welch...

Don't get me started...it's definitely one of my biggest irritations with modern football (and I have a few!). Though us and Liverpool historically might have had a #5 in midfield too. pre squad numbers which obviously distorted this further Clough at Forest liked a #6 in midfield (Hodge or...

    Squad Numbers 2022/23

What would say are our most notorious squad numbers above 11? For me its 14 (Ginola, Modric), 18 (Klinsmann, Defoe) and 23 (Carrick and Eriksen) so therefore the criteria is to give a number that at least 2 'legends'/cult heroes have worn.

    Liverpool thread

I think what they've been really smart about is replacing players early - ironically they probably only got Diaz in January because of our interest but by doing so they're ahead of the game now for a Salah replacement; likewise Jota has already been in place helping the transition from Firmino...

    Liverpool thread

and yet there are still idiots suggesting Liverpool 'bottled' the title on the final day. To go a whole season playing in every fixture possible and only losing 4 times is a staggering achievement akin to Arsenal's 'Invincible' season (lost 6 games in all comps). In the same way 'bottlers'...

    Season review?

I have VHS (1989-2004) and DVD (2005 - 2017); it was always one of my xmas presents and I'd spend xmas morning watching them. (less so as an adult ). I was therefore gutted when they stopped producing these in 2017/18 - the only response I got out of anyone at the club was that due to...

    The athletic

Football Cliches is a great listen (and regularly involves Eccleshare). I really think that the number of high brow, sensible, podcasts (including Game is about Glory of course!) has really dated Talksport. Even 5Live goes down the gutter route with its current iteration of 606 with Savage and...
