He is a tidy enough player, and would be an good squad player for EL/Cups/PL Back up

Would be my thoughts as well, he would not give us anything we have not already got here.

If true then I would assume we are selling Winks and bringing him in as a cheaper alternative with similar ability.

Why on earth would we do that? I'm not a big fan of Winks, but he's twice the player Hughes is!

Wrong. Winks is brick. Hughes has never had the chance play with a squad like Winks where his deficiencies are so often masked.

I’ve always thought Hughes looked a decent player myself. I could certainly see the logic if the Winks to City rumours were true, and we got around 40m for him. Hughes in at around half the price and we wouldn’t really of lost much and 20m or so to spend in another area....

Is he? I think the two of them are reasonably similar in their skillset, with Hughes being slightly more creative than Winks. If Winks could be sold for £35 million and Hughes signed for £15 million then Mourinho may see that as swapping a squad player and generating £20 million of funds to be spent elsewhere.

I'm not saying this is what is happening, just saying that the above is the only way that I can see us being in for Hughes.

My thoughts as well, it will be interesting to see who progresses better over the next few seasons. Winks is a year younger as well.
