Victor Wanyama

I think the quick passing style of Ajax does not suit Wanyama at all. He had a bad game, but I'm not sure Dier would have done much better against Ziyech, Tadic and Van de Beek. Winks and/or Lamela would have been better suited to this type of game.

He looks like he is still working his way back to full fitness, struggled last night but in all honesty the Ajax M/F are a bit special.

He's just a scape goat. If anything Alli was the worse CM. Any midfielders playing without enough bodies in the middle would have looked lost, chasing shadows. Alli closed the wrong player for their goal. As a team we lacked familiarity. A patched up side, and 0-1 wasn't the worst result. Not replacing Dembele was the real issue for me. Up front, Son and Kane out, Llorente came in and did ok. In defense, Jan taken out, we did okay. Foyth and Sanchez showing they can step in. But in midfield, we missed numbers and presence. Poch has tried to shoehorn Rose and Alli into CM and neither has looked the part.

He was obviously hobbling around in one of the post match celebration videos.

There was a tackle which he dived in for which resulted in him hurting his knee, I presume this is why he was hobbling.

You have to wonder if it’s related to all the other knee issues he’s been having.

Read somewhere the other day the reason he did not move abroad was because he wanted to stay in the UK so he could get residency status.

Not got a problem with that in itself, hope he can get back to his best. He seemed to have slimmed down a lot but I always worry with such muscle bound guys that they are susceptible to injuries.

Back to Celtic might be the perfect move for him. Even a no-kneed Wanyama would be the best player in the country by a mile

Such a shame for him, he was immense for us before the injurys struck.

Yup, sadly looks like he’s gone the way of Sandro :(

Report suggests Bournemouth want Tottenham's Victor Wanyama
Tue 30 Jul

Bournemouth reportedly want Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama during the final days of the transfer window.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is one player on Bournemouth's shopping list as the summer transfer window edges towards to its conclusion.

Wanyama has become a fairly frustrating figure at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the last couple of years due to injury. The Kenya international made 36 Premier League appearances in his first season following his £11 million move from Southampton (fee reported by BBC Sport), but has only played 31 times in the top flight across the two campaigns since.

He was ruled out of Mauricio Pochettino's squad for the Audi Cup due to injury, and he has fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele this summer. Meanwhile, academy graduate Oliver Skipp continues to impress whenever he is given an opportunity.

And it appears that the former Celtic man could be offered a way out this summer. The Daily Mail has suggested that the Cherries are interested in the 28-year-old.

Eddie Howe looks set to go into the new season with a number of players sidelined due to injury, so it would be little surprise if he wanted the club to make the most of the time remaining in the window.

However, a move for Wanyama would be risky. If he can stay fit, he would be an inspired signing for Bournemouth. But the last two seasons suggests that he may be a difficult player to rely on if he did move to the Vitality Stadium.

If they could get him fit and playing, he would be an inspired buy for Bournemouth IMO

Palacios, Parker, Sandro, Wanyama, the destroyer style of play doesn't lead to a long career.

Keep or sell him, it's clear we won't be able to depend on him consistently.
