That’s it isn’t it, the game is almost watchable until it gets to the keepers and they’re ridiculously poor, no idea why that area of the women’s game is so bad and never seems to improve?

I read something before about the idea of reducing the size of the goals for the women's game. I think this would help quite a bit as how many of them are 6'2.
Also I'd imagine the process for becoming a keeper is much the same as men's football i.e. the worst player ends up becoming a keeper. Hand eye skills have to be taught be a certain age in most people (which is the reason that most girls can't throw and struggle to learn, they aren't taught young enough, the part of the brain that learns that dies at a certain age) so they're basically chucking the most unathletic unskilled person in goal.

Now the game is professional and with how much resources are being pumped into it, I'd expect the standard to rise dramatically, They should try and scout netball/basketball players and try and route them towards the game.

Anyone that has a daughter it's a good path to try get them to go down women's football. Much easier progression than boys, less competition and professional status means a proper wage. Game is going to expand (regardless of the actually wider interest in it) there's too much money to be made from it for the suits to ignore.

    0-1 down after 11 minutes.

Full backs playing like their male equivalents.

I suspect the goals and the pitch size make the woman's game closer to the original game in terms of ability of the keeper to cover the goal and space on the pitch.

It's worth noting that Man United are the only full time team in the division

Certainly glad that was cleared up. I still maintain that the resemblance is uncanny.

Most clubs are semi-pro. If you compare the keeping to the semi-pro men's game, there's not much difference in quality.

Not having a go at you specifically, but I see this kind of comment a lot. As if just because you like men's football you must like women's? You wouldn't going into the Badminton thread and say the same thing. I personally don't like watching women's football much, but it's a sport that has it's place and has suddenly provided a brick load of role models for young girls. I hope it only continues to grow and the women playing it can make a full time living off the sport.
