Ireland U-19 manager Tom Mohan has been dealt another blow ahead of next week's Euro finals after Mauricio Pochettino decided to keep Troy Parrott with the Tottenham squad.

Up to 10 of Mohan's first-choice players will be missing in Armenia after clubs invoked their right not to release their cadets for a tournament falling out of the FIFA international windows. Parrott had been an integral part of Mohan's squad for the past two seasons, initiating their drive to a first qualification since 2011 by notching four goals in the first series of three qualifiers last October.

Pochettino's admiration for the 17-year-old has since curbed his international exploits. Concerns over his fitness and game-time meant he was unavailable to Stephen Kenny for the U21 games in March and June.

The Dubliner was back in fine fettle at Hotspur Way yesterday at the first day of pre-season training for Spurs. Pochettino fast-tracked Parrott into his first-team squad last Christmas and plans to use him in pre-season.

There are also doubts over the availability of Jason Knight. While Frank Lampard was willng to allow the Derby County powerful travel to Yerevan, his replacement Phillip Cocu is running his eye over him during their training camp in America.

The Boys in Green open their campaign in Yerevan on Monday against Norway. They complete their group by facing France and Czech Republic aiming for a top-two finish to seal a semi-final spot.

Really exciting for Parrot and equally for us. Could end up being that we have the perfect Kane support right under our noses.

He's at the age where he should be starting to break through, particularly when you look at freakishly talented teenage players like Rooney, Alli etc.

he's always impressed me when I've seen him, spent a lot of time as Lb/lwb but I think he's a more attacking player.

I think that he was playing further forward when on loan at Levante last season

I think Troy Parrott deserves his own thread. Yes he’s one of the youth players, but I think he’s on the verge of being part of the first team squad. That Pochettino kept him back in the squad for pre-training speaks volumes.

Derby County are reportedly one of a number of clubs to be showing an interest in Tottenham Hotspur youngster Tashan Oakley-Boothe.

According to the Mail Online, new Swansea City boss Steve Cooper is keen on signing the 19-year-old - who he managed during his time as England under-17s manager - at the Liberty Stadium.
The report adds that Derby, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Stoke City and Reading are all ‘monitoring’ the young midfielder, with the Swans at the front of the queue for his signature.

It is understood that Oakley-Boothe has one year left on his contract at Spurs.

The 19-year-old has made just one first-team appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, as a substitute in the Carabao Cup win over Barnsley in September 2017.

Oakley-Boothe predominantly plays in the central midfield role, and can also work as a defensive midfielder.

The Spurs youngster joins Arsenal defender Krystian Bielik and Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell as names linked with a move to Pride Park in recent days.

DerbyshireLive understands that the Rams are keen to sign Dowell on loan during this summer transfer window.
