Would have preferred to have seen a back-up forward. I know its been talked about Lamela, but you just know the minute Defoe leaves for Canada, either Ade or Soldado will get injured, probably v Cardiff on the 2nd.

But similar to previous Jan windows, we are in the mix and the boost a half-decent signing would make could be the difference between 4th and 5th.
We made the mistake of not pushing on twice in recent seasons, my fear is we have done it a 3rd time. Mata will give United a boost IMO, similar to Ozil at Arsnal.
 
Cornelius has resigned for FC Copenhagen for £3,000,000.

Cardiff signed him for £8,500,000 only 6 months ago.

back up striker is a fair shout but that second part sounds an awful lot like making signings for the sake of making signings if you ask me mate - we've had trouble bedding in players already this season - arguably halting our progress/holding us back while we wait, im quite glad in a way we aren't seeing any new faces coming in (number one for me was Benny come back and then possibly a stop gap deal involving Berba)

Bloody hell. I remember a lot of people thinking Cardiff ahd done a great bit of business with that lad. Did he have homesickness issues?

Struggled with injuries for the first 3-4 months and since then hasn't really got the chance to prove himself so he may have been quite poor in training. However it makes no sense to sell him again so soon. He was topscorer in the danish league in his first season with FC Copenhagen and became a full danish international as a 19 year old and is still only 20 years old. Why on earth didn't they just loan him out to a championship club and let him develop slowly??
