At this rate, Chelski will own half of the world's professional football players by the end of next year. Including loanees, the Chelski squad now consists of 50 (!) players. 26 of them on loan.

It's really astonishing that UEFA/FIFA/FA doesn't see how problematic it is that so many talented, young players are at the mercy of one club. It makes a mockery of arguably the small bit that's left of PL competitiveness (i.e. the Lukako loans), devalues other leagues (how many literal feeder clubs are there in Belgium, Holland, Croatia, etc. now?) and hampers the development of said feeder clubs (how can you plan long term when your three-four best players can be taken away from you in an instant, without compensation?).

Kim Kallstrom has passed his medical at Arsenal ahead of his deadline day move - and they could also land Miroslav Klose.

The 31-year-old Spartak Moscow man looks set to complete his move ahead of the Gunners' weekend clash against Crystal Palace.

The news comes on the same day as manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that Julian Draxler won't be moving to north London this month.

Wenger is also lining up Germany's veteran striker Miroslav Klose in a short-term deal from Lazio and Juventus centre forward Fabio Quagliarella, 31, is also on the radar.

True, they secure the no 1 spot for the next 10-12 years. Did he have 18 months left on the contract? Would be reasonably cheap then too.
