The Official 2020/21 Premier League Thread

2nd place is really up for grabs now for anybody down to 9th place, that could put anything like a consistent run together

I would say 14pts is too much of a gap for Arsenal, but if either ourselves or Villa could win their games in hand, 6pts gap with 11 to go is doable.
Plus Utd play City on Sunday so potentially 3 points dropped there as well and the pressure would really be on Utd.

It's certainly possible for us to catch United. But if we did catch them, I think one of the teams currently in 3rd to 7th would also pick up enough points to finish above them, so reaching 2nd seems unlikely to me.

I think 67 points might be enough for 4th place this season. That would need us to average 2.15 points per game in the remaining matches. That's just about achievable if we have a very good run.

There is something fundamentally wrong when you get judged offside for pointing where you want the ball played!

It's ridiculous! Even being placed 1 meter behind the defender, it's still offside. Level is no longer onside. It's pathetic!

Yep, just like all of the ball has to be over all of the line for it to be a goal, all of the player should have to be in an offside position for it to be offside.

Currently they’re just ruling out goals on what is in effect a technicality. That can’t have been the intention surely?

That's how it was some years ago. As a assistant, you had to "see air" between the players for it to be offside.
It should just be where your legs are, because that's where the advantage is. If your legs are behind/level, it's fine.

I’d even go as far as if the attacker’s back foot is level with the defender’s front foot then you’re on. Reward the attacking play, more goals.
