The new 'cookie' EU Law

spooky

John Gorman
Apparently when you browse to a website which is managed inside the EU you have set it up to prompt the user to accept a cookie. I've now see this on a couple of major websites. Had one or two discussions with people but it remains ambiguous whether this is a legal requirement or not. Anyone have a clue?

I have encountered this but not sure what it means to me or what it does for me. Does this mean the EU can see whether I am watching porn etc?

Read that article - had no idea the one year lead time was up. Only heard about this the other week. Also, it's a blog. So not sure I should give a brick about it. All the cookie does for me is track traffic.

know what a dirty boy you are.

tbh, it will be enforced just as much as any part of Data Protection legislation - when something high profile happens, someone will get a slap on the wrist and a fine.

I've noticed this recently, thought there may have been some kind of new legislation.

no, it just means that the EU have to tell you that they know when you're watching porn etc. the cookies have already been there without you knowing for years.
