The Italian Football Thread

Wow, horrible news.

According to a report in Argentinian newspaper Clarín, the father of Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has been kidnapped in Morón, Buenos Aires.

Reports are currently conflicting, with some suggesting that Juan Carlos Cabral was released, though Clarín claim that he is still being held with a ransom demanded. The newspaper writes that at least two calls have been made in which the kidnappers have demanded money for Cabral's release.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, the kidnappers were not initially aware that Cabral was the father of one of Argentina's most famous footballers, though they raised their demands once they became aware of his connection to Tevez.

Tevez -- who has played for several of Europe's top clubs, including Emirates Marketing Project and Manchester United, and has received 64 international caps for Argentina -- is said to have left Juventus' training camp in Turin for Buenos Aires today in order to deal with the situation.

THE FANS of the Red and Black club do not appear to be keen to go to the stadium to watch the team of Filippo Inzaghi.

Two years ago, Milan recorded their worst season-tickets sale in the Silvio Berlusconi era with a reported amount of 23,618 sold. Last year the negative record was broken with just 23,372 season-tickets sold and it might be broken once again.

The Rossoneri finished 8th last season and haven’t made any significant reinforcements yet. The Milan players are talking about enthusiasm which has been brought with the arrival of Filippo Inzaghi but the fans look to be a lot less enthused.

The lack of movement in the transfer market and the two heavy defeats on the United States Tour to Olympiakos (3-0) and Emirates Marketing Project (5-1) have brought il Corriere dello Sport to make an estimation that Milan will not sell more than 20,000 season-tickets for the next season. Another reason for this low number is the fact that Milan have increased the price.

The Curva Sud addressed it in the letter they released on the first day of pre-season; the famous letter in which they attacked Adriano Galliani for only pursuing his own interests. The Milan ultras wrote then: “The final insult is the price of the season-tickets, which seems unjustified at the least.” Coach Inzaghi said he can already get the chills from imagining a full San Siro stadium on Matchday 3 when the Diavolo host Max Allegri’s Juventus but he might discover that it’ll not be packed.

FFP seems to have really deflated the Serie A balloon.

Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi is facing up to five months out after undergoing yet another operation on his right knee.

The 27-year-old Italian international was ruled out of the World Cup after suffering strained ligaments in January but suffered a recurrence of the injury this week. A routine examination showed evidence of further damage and former Manchester United striker Rossi was sent to see specialist knee surgeon Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado, who has ruled he must spend more time on the sidelines.

After death of her husband and son last week, she came with her daughter to support Roma.

Mancini back at Inter, lets see how he does without ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££, **** I'd say

Cue an endless amount of 'Balotelli to Inter' rumours. I do think Liverpool will want to get rid sooner rather than later.

Inter are playing tonight, using the opportunity to scout the striker Icardi.

Odd thing is I have seen a few crosses go in tonight and I did not think that happened in the european game.

Inter on paper have a really good side. The Juve midfield 4 is just ridiculous though.

Due to our very own Gazza I am a HUGE Lazio fan, what a strange club it is though.

Got some talent in the side but not enough really.

AC Milan losing at home to Atlanata I really do not know what has happened to this club over the last 5 years. They are so poor I have watched the whole game and reckon our under 18's could beat them.

No longer funded by Berlusconi's millions. Same with Inter and Moratti. Combine that with the general decline of the Italian league, which has been coming for a while. Most teams playing in half empty, run down athletics stadiums that they don't even own themselves.

Yeh its a real dog of a league, I am shocked Juve have managed to keep a team together but their problem is turning it on for Champions League, no doubting they have a team to compete in the CL but the lack of any serious competition in the league means they are half baked for the CL games.

The only other exciting team in the league are Napoli and I wonder why they didn't get robbed of their best

Maybe the locals made them an offer they could not refuse

roma are more exciting than Napoli. In fact they play the best football in the league.
