The Goon Thread - Officially Second In A One Horse Race

How worried should we be by Arsenal's dealings this window?
I'd say somewhere about "meh"

He won the turns overs. Not sure if that is good or bad though.
Good (for the fat, ginger, full-kit tossers), it means fewer losses of possession due to a lack of control or failed dribble.

Part of that will be down to the manner in which Kante chases down the ball more than most.

How does the different ways that Atletico Madrid, Chelsea set-up have a baring on those fogures? Also, Arsenal compared to Atletico re how Partey could effect their play from here?

Not sure. Atletico have a very defined style, success there is probably difficult to translate easily elsewhere.

RIP Gunnersaurus.

Mesut Özil offers to pay to keep man inside Gunnersaurus in Arsenal job

Mesut Özil has offered to pay the full salary of Jerry Quy, the man inside Arsenal’s famous Gunnersaurus mascot costume, for as long as he remains a player at the club.

Quy has occupied the role for 27 years alongside a succession of other jobs at Arsenal, playing an integral part as Gunnersaurus became a fixture at Highbury and the Emirates Stadium, as well as an instantly recognisable figure far beyond. With no matches for the mascot to attend until supporters return to Premier League games, he was recently made redundant as part of a series of controversial cost-cutting measures attributed to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

A nice gesture from a man who understands the value of being paid without doing the work.

Atletico Madrid are strong, solid, and disciplined in every area of the pitch. Not something you can say about Arsenal.

His behaviour is pretty close to how a Spurs fan under contract to them would behave, without completely giving the game away!

Ha, yes.

I mean stuff like this, costs him effectively nothing yes, the same could be said of all of their players, but he’s the one that did it, he gives a fudge tonne of money to charity as well.

I think there’s a good guy behind the footballer.

Looks like Partey set his own medical up in Madrid without asking or even telling Atletico he was doing so

Under the Spanish release clause system the buying club don't need to negotiate with the selling club if the fee is being met in full. You pay it to the Spanish FA and you are free to negotiate with the player and complete the transfer.
