    Money, schmoney.

Arsenal are just a mess style-wise. Used to be so downtown and happenin'. A slick, hip, egotistical bunch of swaggering corgi shaggers. Now, they're just sprawled out on an old sofa, passed out from hippy crack, getting their legs humped by the corgies.

Serious question: When you watch, and especially listen to, Unai Emery, do you ever wonder - briefly, of course - if he's still a virgin?

Yes, he's done very well as a manager but, like AVB, comes across as an obsessed nerd that might not be quite what the babes are looking for. What an awkward, weird man.

I feel like Emery is going to be the fall guy for moving on Ozil and Ramsey and then get sacked before a more glamorous coach comes along and gets 100m to spend. Goons have too many big earners and egos to be drilled and disciplined for long but not enough quality to have the trophy winning / CL income boom cycle cheski usually get.

As much as I’ve never been a fan, AVB was given a remit like that at Chelski but Roman bottled it as soon as CL qualification was threatened and the players have ran the club since.

There is certainly logic in that, but Emery is a big name, I can’t see them getting a bigger one.

Probably one of those ones that block up the rooms in the local brothel by sitting on the floor in the room crying, meaning you have to go in the box room at the back where the is not enough room to swing a cat, which is one of the things i like to do when I go to the local brothel.

One of the greatest football brains this country has ever seen is currently plucking Macclesfield from the depths of league two with his unique brand of ego based football management...

He’s already had about 100m to spend in the summer.

I was reminded of this by someone else on this topic! I think it’s about 70m but oddly as it was spent on a few no names it doesn’t feel like a lot. I guess I always thought they had big reserves that Wenger was sitting on that his successor would get to combat the culture shock of doing defensive drills.

It’s so refreshing that top 4 is no longer the minimum award for big teams turning up, all those years the sky four had their closed shop with the financial and scheduling advantages of it, yet none of them have used that money and advantage to stay there. It makes Emirates Marketing Project’s doping slightly more palatable as even if they win everything at least the rest of the table isn’t as predictable.

So now he's at least in the top 5 European earners I'd imagine? Or are quite a few on that kind of money now?

That's absolutely insane. The fact they would want/need to import in a player like Ramsey to begin with is ludicrous. He's fudging bang average at best and hasn't played a full season of football in years.

I assumed that was a headline figure that would take into account a big signing fee and bonuses etc.
But the article implies it’s basic.
    Wow.

Someone must've written a zero too many. 400k a week for Ramsey is just ridiculous. No fudging way. Aaron Ramsey? What's next, Barcelona getting Victor Moses on 400 a week? Makes no sense. I don't believe it.

Worryingly there will be players like Christian Eriksen probably looking at Ramsay's wages wondering why they are staying with us for peanuts (relatively). Ramsay is good but not Eriksen good.

Begs the question, how much was he on at Arsenal (and how much were they offering)?

I bet the reason this is so high is because Arsenal (as usual) were blowing their budget on wages for him.

    Wouldnt you?!

Its an insane amount of money to be presented with, not sure anyone could turn it down.

I like Ramsey, I think he is a good player on his day, but this is just ridiculously OTT. He is nowhere near 400k good. Not even half that IMO.
