Interesting finish at Hove, Essex set 200 to win in the remaining 50 overs of the match (it would be the highest innings score in the game) and it looks like they’re going for it, 5 an over so far!
 
Yeh I'm semi confident as their best bowler from first innings had spell of his life,. Essex are always better when they know what they need to do.
 
Ton for Buttler, had to review on 99. Dare I get excited about our batting with us having two openers who actually want to stick around, a solution to the number 3 issue allowing Root to bed in at 4 and Buttler potentially earning his place as a batsman if he can’t improve his keeping?
 
Ever since he had that absolute nightmare day behind the stumps in the first test he’s been pretty much brilliant in everything he’s done! Feel sorry for Foakes but this is what everyone hoped we’d get when Butler was selected.

I was thinking it was great that he was making a case to be in the side as a specialist batsman and there’d be room for him and Foakes and but like you say he’s been brilliant behind the stumps since the first test. Maybe the relief of having a few scores behind him and not fearing being dropped has helped him relax?
