I think that I have spotted a flaw in this. As much as I love the Shining, voting for anything but Ghostbusters would feel like voting against my childhood.

Yeah, perhaps there should have been genre playoffs.

I’m gonna have to abstain on this one, I can vote for one over the other.

Right. I'm going to come clean. I have a dirty secret.

I've never seen the whole of The Shining. There I've said it. I've seen the 1st half of it maybe three times I think, but never saw the whole film.

I'll abstain from this vote:oops:

I've been watching it tonight and turned off half way through. I'll watch the rest tomorrow.

Me too. There is really over rated films on this poll, the shinning being one, and scarface is probably the most over rate film of all time imho.

Great actor Jack.

Is he?

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy his performances a lot - but doesnt he basically do the same character in everything? Im not sure that makes for a "great actor".

In the same vein:
Denzel Washington
Clive Owen
Michael Douglas
Michael Caine
Harrison Ford
Morgan Freeman
Anthony Hopkins
Lawrence Fishbourne
...

It goes on. Obviously not all are considered great actors, per se, but basically you hire Anthony Hopkins, you get Anthony Hopkins - its not like he actually becomes a new character is it?

It would be easier to list the male actors of whom that isn't true.

Ben Kingsley. Um. I'm struggling.

I do get that actors have their "thing", that one type of role they are really strong on, but I just feel many that are really highly rated are actually rather limited in range.

I would have thought to be a great actor you should be able to convey a number of different characteristics.

Samuel L Jackson must be the worst offender.
