I get it now his skill and talent are more important than the needs of the team or results, although I hate that attitude I can see its acceptable to many if the player is continually delivering super performances which result in wins, Greavsie rarely broken sweat, but fannying about and the strolling around a bit doesnt cut the mustard for me.

I think that ship has sailed personally.

Perhaps if he came back to preseason training a changed man? But even then getting back onto Conte's good side will take time, without competetive games to prove himself that's even harder.

I think we're already looking for ways to get him out this summer and it will be greatly difficult to change that.

I still don’t get what people see in him to have all this hope that with work rate he would be some world class midfielder. He made a couple of good passes and done a few skill moves but that was it, even when he was getting a little run he would lose the ball alot. As i have said before, he has done nothing more in a Spurs shirt than what Taarabt done.

I agree, my point is, he only has himself to blame, he does have an attitude problem, and, Conte’s system shouldn’t be an excuse.

Imagine him using his strength, power and pace racing around midfield winning the ball back, chasing down opposition breaks, he’d be a one man wrecking machine.

Not sure about excuse on the system. It's perfectly possible to be a very good player and a poor fit for any given system. If that's the case fair enough, excuse or not.

Fit for the system is not his biggest issue though. And for the main issues there's nowhere else to point than at him.

Like you say it's possible to be a good player but not fit the system. Emerson Royal is a good example of this. He's a very good player and a superb RB but a pretty poor WB and not well suited to Conte's system.

So it's about attitude. It takes the right attitude to change your game to what the manager wants. Much like Perisic did.

Ndombele with the right attitude would be a huge asset. His skill set is adaptable to what Conte would require.

Not when you are taller, stronger, faster and more skilful than everyone else on the pitch. If he put some effort it in, he could slot into any position on the pitch and be brilliant.

I just don't think that he is ever going to be a cog in the machine player. Conte has very specific requirements and there are loads of players not cut out for it.

That’s the real shame isn’t it?

He just can’t be arsed, apparently he put the same levels of “effort” whilst on loan.

What does he want? He/his agent were moaning about being home sick (fair play to him taking a pay cut to make it happen) and they are offering him up to clubs like Barca which isn’t going to happen because of the effort he has shown.

I think we will be lucky to off load him for much near 20 million.

I agree 100%. But if he could - which I think he doesn't - he'd be a key player in any side. His attributes and talent are world class, but his dedication and discipline doesn't match up. Hopefully we'll sell him for a decent fee.

I was bonding with number three son last night watching YouTube videos of old Spurs matches and up popped Stephan Dalmat scoring an excellent solo goal in the 90th minute of a game we had already won.

Ndombele popped into my head, for some reason.

Surprised he made it to the end of the match. Usually had a plane waiting.

I assume he was brought on in the 89th minute as the match was won.

Maybe the one saving grace with Ndombele is DL loves having performance-related wages. Maybe the drop in earnings from not playing may either motivate him to train hard or push for a move. If he is really on 200k/week without any clauses, we're going to have to put millions aside just to get rid.

If he was a 20m purchase on 70k a week, you'd welcome him back, and see him as an impact sub who could potentially prove himself and earn more game time. But with his wages, the burden of supposedly being this big player, he needs to move on. Just can't see anyone paying close to the wages he's likely getting here. Hopefully, they are performance-related, and not as huge as reported!

That £200k a week has to be wrong. Son even after his new contract is not on that (not including bonuses). It's the same as harrys basic.

Seen today with perisic how journalists get the wages wrong then others repeat it till it's gospel.

100% with you on this, seen the 200k p/w figure bandied about so much that it's considered the absolute truth but just don't buy it.

Tanguy was well regarded but not without a attitude issues and a rapid rise from what was essentially almost a non league level, it's unbelievable that he would be given a basic rate above some of the best players in the EPL in Kane and Son.

His fate is probably another loan season or two until he can be offloaded at a lesser cost.
