Chelsea, Arsenal and Norwich won today while Stoke got a draw. We need a win to keep pace really and a loss would put Everton on the same amount of points as us.

If we do manage to get a win at Everton on Sunday, it would put Spurs 2 points ahead of last season's total for the identical fixtures.

hmm...I wonder if Saudi Sportswashing Machine didn't have to involve in Europa League, would that actually do them a favour in the league?

Just imagine if we had beat Everton.

Almost certainly. I think the European hangover effect is fairly well established isn't it? Especially for a club new to the European competitions.

The again, just imagine if Arsenal had beaten Swansea, they must be furious about that one.

Yeah, there will almost always be games like those for any team in a close league to look back at.

But they were outclassed for 90 minutes.

At the very least we deserved a point against Everton.

I didn't see the Arsenal game so I can't comment, but it's very rare indeed that Arsenal are outclassed at the Emirates for 90 minutes.

But anyway it doesn't alter my point, just that then they must be furious with the result and the performance, just like us v Wigan, which was a far more damaging result IMHO. At least as you say, our Everton performance was good for the most part.

Spurs are now one point better off than we were in the identical fixtures during season 2011-12...

...and if we can manage a win at Sunderland on Saturday, we'll increase the difference to plus three points (we drew up there last season).
